Company Overview
At Vall de Boí Guides one of the most important aspects for us is to give you the confidence that it is specialized personnel who do the activities with you, like Sidarta Gallego. This way you can give us a face and know that behind each proposal there is a real and well-prepared staff.
We can assist you at any time of the year because we have divided our list of activities by those that have to be limited to the warmer seasons and those that are restricted to the cold:
- In the hot months: the aquatic ravines will help make the high temperatures seem less so. Summer is also a good period for a via ferrata, since the facilities on the mountain are free of ice and the weather will not add difficulty. In case you want to climb, we will ascend the clean rock on sunny days.
- In the winter months: the snow, far from leaving us at home, invites us to use snowshoes or skis to experience another way of getting to know these natural places . Ascents remain possible, although ice and snow will cause climbing to become mountaineering.
Summary Canyoning
- In the Pyrenees: with canyoned rivers that leave us surprising formations that we will see from within. They are divided into levels, the lowest of which is used for discovery and is suitable for children from 8 years old. They are also available at level 2 to add an extra challenge to a group that is capable of moving with skill, and at level 3 which is recommended only for the experienced.
Examples of the canyons in this area are those around Benasque or the town of Sobrarbe.
- In the Sierra de Guara: it belongs to the pre-Pyrenees on its Huesca slope. It also has ravines of all levels that also invite us to stop for tourism in towns with hundreds of years of history and a very interesting medieval profile. Such is the case of Alquezar and Rodellar.
Keep in mind that, even if we are going to go completely into the water, the footwear we need to wear must allow us to walk on the slippery rocks without any problem. Forget flip flops and the like.
Summary Skiing
The difficulty will be directly linked to the itinerary, since they may be more or less steep depending on what you are looking for. We can also vary the duration, organizing expeditions:
- A single day: designed to get to know the surroundings of Vall de Boi itself, the Arán or Benasque valleys and part of the French Pyrenees. They are excursions in which we leave and return on the same day during daylight hours.
- More than one day: which allows us to get away to see points such as Carros de Foc or surround the Pico Posets, which is almost 4,000 meters high. We will divide the tour time and spend the night in the shelters that are in the mountain. Accommodation expenses are divided between each of the adventurers.
To ensure that you have the supervision you need, we will provide you with a maximum of one guide for every 6 people.
Summary Snowshoeing
- What we will see with snowshoes: taking into account that the area that gives us its name has direct access to the Aigüestortes National Park, you can get an idea of the natural wealth that awaits us here. If we extend the expedition to several days, we can also visit Carros del Foc, among others.
- What we will need: we will have to dress warmly to go up the mountain taking into account the snow. As for footwear that can be adapted to rackets, almost any sporty one will work.
- What we provide you: professional assistance accredited by the degree as a corresponding guide, the rackets that each of you will carry and a pair of canes that are very useful for us to obtain more support when moving forward .
Summary Climbing
- Climbing in summer: there are many peaks that we can pursue throughout the entire valley, as well as the Catalan Pyrenees, the Ordesa Park area or the different areas of the Pyrenean mountain range that represent the Pre-Pyrenees and the French Pyrenees. We will take advantage of the cracks and projections in the rock, holding on with our hands and feet and feeling safe with the common material that we carry to anchor ourselves to the mountain.
- Winter ascents: when ice and snow become the protagonists of the landscape, we have to adapt our climbing style. We will also need specific material which, in the case of mountaineering, will be the ice axes that we stick into the ice and the crampons that hold our feet to the slippery surface. The Aragonese Pyrenees is a strong candidate for this type of climbs.
More radical if possible is ice climbing, only possible if you have experience. The frozen water will be what holds us on our vertical itinerary, which can be done in Izas, Cavallers or Gavarnie.
Summary Via Ferrata
In the summer months we recommend the via ferrata, being the easiest way to reach dozens of meters in height in the mountains without having to learn to climb. This is possible thanks to the previous facilities that we find in each of them.
Some of our favorite vertical itineraries are:
- Miravet: we find it near Pont de Suert and it can be interesting to overcome since it has a medium level of difficulty.
- Obarra: presides over the spectacular Isábena Valley and its route is somewhat more complex than the previous one. It is better that you have become accustomed to this activity before opting for it.
- Teletubbies: this surprising name takes us to a ferrata near Áger, very simple, with which your children can accompany you.
The only thing you really need to do a ferrata is that vertigo is not a problem for you. We leave the material to you but your clothing must be consistent with the activity. Also, if you happen to have cycling gloves, it will be good for you to bring them.
