Tips if you are going to do Canyoning in Spain

To jump into a ravine has more sense that looks like, as long as you contact the canyoning guides and instructors. With a little bit of professional help, any river becomes a game full of challenges, just capable of extracting your best adventurer characteristics. That’s why, time has changed this modality and convert it in obligatory for those who would like to boast that they have tried one of the best extreme sports.

1. You'll visit a natural water park



Is the mentioned comparison when the people are trying to explain someone who has no idea of what canyoning is. And the truth is, that is the most accurate one. The adventure in the river consists of different height rocks, ponds of all possible sizes and slippery trails on which you can slide down. Logically, nature didn’t put that there as slides, but they fulfill that function perfectly.

2. You will put all your muscles to work



To jump, swim and climb will make all your muscles to move, including your little finger of your left foot. In this discipline, all your body intervenes and you’ll see it once the adventure ends. You will get really tired, because of resisting all the force of the water for hours and, we assure you that you’ll feel everything on the next day, but these will be the most gratifying muscle soreness in your life. You will burn so much calories that you will be able to eat a great meat after, with dessert included, without feeling guilty about it. You earn it!

3. There are different difficulty levels for all ages



Because you have never trained anything related to canyoning, there are no excuse to not dare to do enjoy it. For you to have an idea, there are descends that are just almost like a nice stroll when talking about the “complications” but equally fun. Also, in the majority of the descends there are alternative trails for those who prefer not to jump over the rocks or abseil meters. If you are looking to feel adrenaline, you will find great and big cliffs with defying heights but, if you come with the little ones, there are other options for people ages 8 years and above, even younger, but they know how to swim.

4. Discover hidden places



A tourist with a backpack will never contemplate what you see when entering a ravine. To follow the trail of rocky river is to get away from its riverside, where people walks peacefully but, instead, you’ll reach turquoise waterfalls who people normally doesn’t reaches. Remember that you are lucky of having this scenario in front of you and just take a moment to stop and admire your surroundings.

5. There are also dry ravines



If you think that neoprenes are not your thing, you can choose a dry ravine, in which, obviously, there’s no water at all. You can cross them by walking and with ropes since the rappelling techniques are the most used in these type of adventures. In these cases, amazing sights and views will surround you, which giant rocks predominate. It’s uniqueness will wake your imagination.

When you can go canyoning?



Spain has so many and varied ravines, that to find the perfect one for almost all year is possible. We just cross out Winter, because with cold temperatures, who wants to swim and get wet? During Spring, with the first rains, it starts to be sufficient water currents to practice this sport. Summer is a great option, but you need to ask a specialist first where you can go canyoning. The meltdowns can make the water level much higher. During Autumn, some of the ravines can get dry, but you can find other ones with great conditions at the north of the Peninsule.
