Snowshoeing to the Puerto de Vegarada Collanzo

We have a snowshoe route of epic proportions, in a secluded and extensive place, where there is only snow and silence. This snowshoe crossing through the Puerto de Vegarada will fascinate you, you will be surprised when you see such landscapes filled with a dense and impeccable blanket of snow in a completely uninhabited environment. An outing that will take us around 3 hours to complete and that is joining the Asturian and Leonese provinces.

It is a snowshoe trek that does not require experience since it is very enjoyable and with a slight slope and that you can experience without having to bring anything except your warmest snow clothing, boots of mountain, sun cream and something to drink and eat. We will take care of providing you with all the necessary materials and an expert mountain guide.

For this snowshoe route to Puerto de Vegarada, we will undertake a circular or linear route of 12 kilometers. We will meet at the Puerto de Vergara Inn, very close to the Asturian parish of Collanzo, where our snowshoe excursion is geographically located and we will depart from the port of Vegarada, after the Hoces de Valdeteja, along the Roman road.

The beginning of our snowshoe route will be delighted by a journey where we will cross the Xexia Valley and Las Camperonas, heading to the Pico de la Cabritera, all of this in a slight, shallow ascent so we will enjoy a comfortable walk. Once we have overcome this valley, we will come across the Xexia Fountain. This point represents an oasis in the middle of the mountain straight out of a fantasy story, since it is the only one we can find in these parts. So we will be surprised when suddenly, apart from our footsteps sinking the snow, we hear the splashing of the water from this fountain.

From here, privileged and unparalleled views, as we will see the range of Pico La Solana, the Pico del Mediodía, the Portina de Faro >, the Peñas de Faro, the Pico Huevo and the Pico Morala. We will find ourselves embraced by colossal mountain ranges that will make us see nature with different eyes. Following the same orientation, we will continue towards the Pico de la Cabritera until we reach the Camperonas area, an area that will give us a lot of height with which, although not Believe it or not, we will enjoy even better views of all the mountains that will surround us.

After several kilometers of snowshoeing, we will eventually reach the pass that divides Pico Jeje and Pico de la Cabritera. Thanks to the unique esplanades that the hills enjoy, and especially this one, we will see how a beautiful view of the Asturian region opens up, from which we can even see the sea in the distance. At the same time, Pico del Alba, Picón de las Rubias and a large part of the Redes Natural Park will also witness our snowshoe route.

From this point we are at an altitude of 1900 meters and it is from here, when we have sufficiently enjoyed the views of such peaks, we will begin our return route to Puerto de Vegarada, and also to the better way, in continuous descent until finally reaching the inn of Puerto de Vegarada.
