"I gave it to my husband for his birthday and the experience was wonderful. What was a shame was that I had taken the flight for two people, and that plane was damaged, and I couldn't fly with it in the end. They also offered me the possibility of doing it in another city, but I wanted to do it where I live, to see everything from the air. Of course, they refunded me the difference."

10 things to do in León

If you come to León, you will see fastly that is the ideal land to be able to do all kinds of exciting sports, in part thanks to its mountainous configuration and the numerous and plentiful rivers that cross this province. But it also has exciting aerial activities!

1. Go skydiving in Pajares de los Oteros.



Are you looking to enjoy extreme sensations? Nothing like letting yourself go from a light aircraft at 3.000 meters in height and feel how your body accelerates up to 220 kilometers per hour, whilst watching from the heights the Esla river or even the northeast motorway (A-6). You don’t need to know any technical knowledge, because is the instructor who carries out the stunts and maneuvers. Don’t forget on booking a video and pics report to have a souvenir of this activity for a lifetime!

2. Meet Morgovejo with a horseback route.



Discover a locality with two millennia of history. Morgovejo is famous for having a hot spring spa that was formerly used to try to heal various ailments. On this route, you will pass by the waters of the Cea and cross wooded areas of beech and oak.

3. Enjoy a balloon ride over the León’s city center.



Come early to the Plaza de San Marcos to help prepare the balloon and make a flight over the city, while you contemplate the magnificent cathedral or the Basilica of San Isidoro de León. When you land you will be waiting for a great lunch with the best products in our area. There will be cheese, chorizo, bread, typical sweets and, of course, a glass of Leonese wine.

4. Go rafting in Picos de Europa.



The adventure will start in the surroundings of Posada de Valdeón, inside the National Park, and located between the central and occidental massifs. The ravine provides a lot of jumps and natural slides, and even incredible caves. If you have time after the adventure/activity, don’t miss the cheeses and Valedón’s honey tastings.

5. Karting lap in Cabañas Raras.



In this place, inside the village of El Bierzo, you will find an outdoor circuit to be able to drive a kart for all the laps you want. If you want more adventure, you can combine the adventure with a paintball match, and can also book a typical-food menu to enjoy a nice meal.

6. Go canoeing in the Sil River.



You can make this descent and cross El Bierzo like this while you are facing sections of whitewater. You can choose the short section of 5 km or the long section of 8 km to reach the Encina La Lastra Natural Park and finish the route in the Peñarrubia reservoir.

7. Enjoy a snow rackets trip in San Isidro.



In case you come to León in winter, you can take advantage of the snow season by going snowshoeing in this ski resort. The itinerary will take place in the area of Puerto de Vegarada. Do you want more emotion yet? Dare with the night mode, walking with fronts to illuminate your steps.

8. Discover and explore Puente Villarente with a buggy.



Come to this location, belonging to Villaturiel, inside the region of La Sobarriba, and ride for an hour, traveling 16 kilometers of Leon fields. It's an all-terrain vehicle, so we'll barely step on the asphalt. In addition, there will be stops at local bars so you can have a snack.

9. “Speleocanyoning” in the Valporquero cave.



This grotto is in the town of the same name. It is one of the few places in Spain where you can practice the descent of “speleoravines”. After traveling about 3 kilometers, we will leave near the town of Fermín, next to the Hoces de Vegacervera. You will have descended 250 meters.

10. Practice rafting in San Cipriano del Condado.



You will descend through the waters of the Porma River, along 4 kilometers, to reach Castrillo de Porma. These municipalities belong to Vegas del Condado, within the Tierra de León region. Our advice is that you complete the experience with a barbecue where you will taste the best meat in the area.
