Trekking Mythical places of Picos de Europa 4 days

You will not find a Trekking in Los Picos de Europa with a better effort/reward ratio. And in this 4-stage trek we will visit the most famous places of the Picos de Europa National Park: Los Lagos de Covadonga, Vegarredonda, La Vega de Ario, La Senda del Cares, Sotres, The village of Bulnes and the Ordiales Viewpoint.

This is your route:

-Stage 1: COVADONGA LAKES – ORDIALES VIEWPOINT - VEGARREDONDA:

We begin this Trekking with a classic route in the Picos de Europa. We are going to visit one of the most magical places in Asturias, the Mirador de Ordiales. An impressive viewpoint hanging hundreds of meters above the void, from which we can see the entire east of Asturias. Few places like this offer us such a wide view of the Asturian geography. Once we have recovered our strength, we will return to the Vegarredonda shelter and spend the night here.

-Stage 2: VEGARREDONDA - VEGA DE ARIO:

In this second stage we will visit some of the Majadas where you can see how the Shepherds make the Gamoneu del Puertu Cheese and little by little, in a comfortable climb, we will go to look for the Vega of Arius. Once in Ario, we will regain our strength during the afternoon, contemplating the central massif of the Picos de Europa in front of us, where peaks such as Torrecerredo, the highest peak of the Cantabrian coast, are located. We will spend the night at the Vega de Ario shelter.

-Stage 3: VEGA DE ARIO - SENDA DEL CARES - PONCEBOS:

From Ario we have to undertake a long descent to reach the Senda del Cares. Once on the Senda del Cares, on much more comfortable, practically flat terrain, we will arrive at Poncebos, where the comfort of a Mountain hotel will help us recharge our batteries to face the last stage of the trek.

-Stage 4: PONCEBOS - BULNES - SOTRES:

We will travel one of the old paths that run through the Cares Gorge. We are going to ascend to what was one of the last isolated villages in Asturias, Bulnes. Currently Bulnes has a funicular, the lower station of which is in Poncebos, so if someone is tired of the previous stages, they can ascend by funicular and reduce the gradient in this stage. Once we arrive at this beautiful village, we will undertake the last ascent of the trek, to reach Collado Pandébano, from where we can see the famous Pico Urriellu or Naranjo de Bulnes, the most famous mountain of the Picos de Europa. Once in Pandébano, we only have to descend along a wide track to reach Sotres, where they will pick us up to return to Poncebos. Here we will put an end to this trekking through the most mythical places of the PicosofEurope.
