Trekking in the Peña Ubiña Massif 4 days

The Cantabrian Mountains has more to offer you apart from the Picos de Europa and that is that with the Peña Ubiña massif, you will have spectacular peaks that will leave you impressed, both for their beauty as well as for the number of rocks that we can find.

This massif covers several councils, as it occupies part of Lena, Teverga and also Quirós, in addition to the Leonese territory of Babia. Among the 50 peaks that make up this great Massif, the Peña that gives it its name stands out, that of Ubiña (2,411m) and that of Rueda, 2,155, an impetuous limestone pyramid.

This area of Asturias brings together a wild environment, with high mountain forests and characteristic Cantabrian fauna. It is this diversity and beauty, from which you will quickly fall in love, that has granted it the consideration of Biosphere Reserve, in addition to already constituting the Peña de Urbiña Natural Park.

During the four days it will take us to tour the Massif, we will stay in the same shelter, Meicín, at 1,549 meters, perfect as it is located in a central point of the peaks.

We start the itinerary from Tuiza de Arriba, from which we move to the refuge. From here we climb to Peña Cerreos, from where we contemplate Peña Ubiña, which will be our destination the next day. We went down the same section and spent our first stay in the refuge.

The second day we climbed Peña Ubiña, 2,417 meters high. First we go up to Terreros, to take the direction to the rock. We will descend along the same route as we went.

On the third day, we will take the circular route, which begins in Tuiza de Arriba, passes through Llegu, a magnificent lake that is located at the top of the Port of Agüeria and from where we can contemplate Peña Rueda in all its splendor. As the last section, we pass through Bocarón, from where we go down and begin the return.

On the last day, we ascend to Peña Rueda, from the town of Lindes. We will make a nice ride, to say goodbye to the mountains. It will be circular and will begin in the Port of Agüeria, which ends in Lindes.

To avoid unnecessary burdens, we offer you the option of buying a picnic lunch for each day of ascent, at the refuge. Here you will have the blankets that you are going to use, so you will only have to bring the bag (thin or sheet).
