Tips if you are going to do Surfing in United Kingdom

Being possibly the most well-known water sport around the world, it’s hard to decipher why there aren’t many people who know about surfing in the UK. There are roughly 500,000 active surfers here, with the vast coastlines of the UK harbouring some of the best surf spots for beginners to advanced. Surfing offers you the chance to experience the thrill of riding waves, feeling the sea breeze in your hair and really just learning to enjoy the moment – there’s nothing quite like it! If you’re yearning to learn more, here are our top 5 reasons why you should go surfing in the UK.

1. Feel the ‘stoke’ for real



The ‘stoke’ is the feeling of excitement, pleasure, happiness and thrill that you only experience whilst surfing. If you know surfers you’ll hear that word a lot – and now is your chance to experience it for yourself. Get lost in the moment as you paddle through the tranquillity of the sea, waiting for the perfect swell to take up your board and feel the rush of the waves beneath you, and the thrill of dismounting whether you manage to ride it out or have to bail. 2. An incredible full body workout



Going surfing improves your balance, strength and coordination like nothing else – it is totally unique and not replicable in any gym. Whilst you’re paddling you’ll be working all the muscles of your upper body; you’ll build a thick back and big arms, and then once you start riding, your core strength will keep your balanced whilst also providing a strong foundation from your legs. Whilst all of this is happening you’ll also be increasing your cardiovascular fitness through controlling your breathing – all in all it’s the perfect workout. When you learn how to surf you’re learning a new skill, and there’s nothing that can boost your confidence more than mastering something previously unknown to you. When should I go surfing in the UK?



When the sun is out, the waves are more controlled and the warmth is all around you means the perfect time to go surfing. During the summer – although UK beaches can still see their fair share of rain – is the best time for you to take up your board and either start learning or enjoy the day out practicing your skills. With average water temperatures being between 8 and 19 degrees Celsius, you won’t need to worry about a wetsuit and you’ll be able to fully enjoy your time in the waves. However, if you’re more advanced and prefer a more isolated surfing experience to really hone in on your moves, we’d suggest bracing the cold and heading out in the winter – the huge swells and isolated beaches make for the perfect practice grounds.
