Tips if you are going to do Winery Tours in Mexico

Enter the world of wine with a wine tourism experience. Discover wineries, tour around beautiful vineyards, learn about their history, discover the winemaking process and taste a delicious wine. Perhaps you think that you could only do this in a distant country like France or Spain, however, in Mexico there are also wine routes where you can taste a glass worthy of export.

1. Places to do wine tourism in Mexico



Mexico is a producer of its own wines, and has important vineyard areas, mainly in the north of the country. Valle de Guadalupe is considered the Capital of Mexican Wine, being the most important wine region in Mexico. It is located in Ensenada, Lower California peninsula and has more than 100 wineries that can be visited throughout the year. In this region there are other routes such as Calafia, Santo Tomás, San Vicente and San Antonio de las Minas. Coahuila is also a wine producing state and its main route is Parras de la Fuente to continue the journey through Cuatro Ciénegas de Carranza. In the center of the country you can also find important wine houses in Querétaro, in the areas of Tequisquiapan, Colón, Ezequiel Montes and El Marqués, and in Guanajuato with its Wine Circuit that goes from Dolores Hidalgo to San Miguel de Allende.

2. What do you do in a wine tourism tour?



On a wine tourism or enotourism tour experience, you will be able to see the vineyards, the views of which are simply spectacular since they are large hectares of grape crops that seem to have no end. Afterwards, they will explain to you the whole process of wine elaboration and they will take you to know the cellars where they store the barrels for their fermentation and aging. We recommend you pack some warm clothes, as the temperature in the cellars is low for the correct conservation of the wine.

You will be given a glass or two accompanied by a detailed explanation of the wines you are tasting. Sometimes they can recommend the type of food that goes well with each wine and even give you a tasting of it like cheese or ham, to enhance its flavor. On the one hand, there is the basic tasting that accompanies the visit, which consists of tasting one white and one red wine. On the other hand, they also offer tastings of various wines, including several whites, reds and even rosés. In this way, you will be able to taste the different types of wines from the winery, and you will also be able to learn first-hand the different treatments of the wine, such as different barrels or different periods of maturation.

5. Country food paired by experts



To top off your visit to the winery, we recommend that you participate in a picnic lunch paired by the experts of the winery. This way you will be able to enjoy a complete experience that includes a meal outdoors and surrounded by vineyards, accompanied by the wines of the winery, making food and drink a perfect combination. When to book a wine tourism tour?



Wine tours in Mexico are held all year round, although we recommend doing them between spring and autumn so that the vineyards are full of life and color. The harvest takes place between the months of May and August and these are the dates when the wineries celebrate their harvest.
