Welcome to Discovery Surf School
We are a surf school located in Bigbury-on-Sea on the southern coast of Cornwall. Since our creation in 2002, we have prided ourselves on our top notch instruction.
Groups are always kept small, and we guarantee that you will be up and riding by the end of your first lesson!
We always have at least one coach for every six students. Our instructors are fully accredited by the Academy of Surf Instruction and cater to all age groups.
We work at two different beaches, Bigbury-on-Sea and Challaborough Bay. This gives us greater flexibility in finding the right location given current surf conditions and your ability level.
We supply equipment including:
- Beginner Boards
- Wetsuits
- Intermediate Boards
- Gloves
- Boots
- Hoods
All of our instructors are certified first aiders, lifeguards, and CRB checked. If you want to learn surfing quickly and have loads of fun while doing so, contact us today!

Welcome to Discovery Surf School Paddleboarding
We are a premier surf and paddleboard school located at Bigbury-on-Sea on the southern coast of Cornwall. Paddleboarding is an enjoyable alternative to surfing. It is as relaxing or as exhilirating as you want, because you stand on the board and paddle where you want to go. That could be either towards huge waves, or you could paddle over placid waters. Our professional instructors
are beach lifeguards,first aiders, and are CRB checked. They also offer stand up paddle lessons such as:
- Board hire
- Private lessons
- Family lessons
- Group discount
Experienced paddleboarders can hire a board hourly or daily.
