Tips if you are going to do Via Ferrata in Spain

If you are a fan of nature, the mountains and incredible sights you need to try a Via Ferrata. This is a very complete sport which combines hiking, trekking and climbing. You will climb and ascend walls thanks to the rock’s staples, cross bridges in which you’ll see the whole under your feet, and even pass from a mountain to another through zip-lining. Are you feeling now like going to an adventure?

1. Nature will be the protagonist



One of the main reasons that will push you to try this activity, is the direct and continuous contact with the greenery, fields, mountains, trees, land, and even the skies, because we assure you that in more one occasion you will feel like floating. A set of ravines, rocky formations and steep mountains will be waiting for you. And the best part is, that, to guarantee your safety and make easy the journey, you’ll see a steel cable throughout the whole trail, to which you will be strapped by a harness system.

2. Meet adventurous just like you



The best thing when practicing any type of extreme or adventures sport, is that you will coincide with other people, who will connect with you because having the same passion, so you already have to topics to talk about and new challenges to surpass together. Generally, the vias ferratas are carried out with groups with 4 to 8 people per instructor, this can vary depending on the type of via and place. And, of course, you can seize the opportunity to escape from the city with your friends, and share together this experience.

3. Practice various sports in one activity



Like we said above, the vias ferratas are some fun tours, where various activities of mountaineering are combined, from there it becomes an exercise in which practically the whole body works and where you can check which discipline you love the most. You need to remember that not all the ferratas are the same and not all present the same elements. But in the majority of it, you will need to demonstrate your arm’s strength whilst climbing the stairs or staples, also your balance when moving throughout the bridge’s cables to another one, and your bravery to surpass all the obstacles found in the trail.

4. The life in vertical and horizontal perspectives



In Spain there is around 230 equipped vias ferratas, that is to say, they have all the necessary elements to be completed by fans of this sport. Depending on the place and the via you choose, you can see the life vertically or horizontally, having even ferratas that present sections of the 2 modalities.

5. Levels adapted for everyone



One of the positive aspects of this sport, is that provides options for everyone. It is not necessary to be an expert or to have a great physical condition to enjoy a via ferrata, moreover, even those who don’t practice sports a lot, can do it, although, in that case, you need to know that you will suffer muscle soreness the next day. There are 6 difficulty levels that are established under the characteristics of the via and having on mind the strength and resistance needed, the psychological requirement and the previous experience that is had in the mountain. So, both the non experienced like the mountaineering veterans have a adventure waiting for you.

Planning a via ferrata?



The ferratas are carried out throughout the whole year. In Summer, you will need to rise early, because that way you avoid the heat-peak hours, and in Winter, the start time is delayed a little to try to get a warmer temperature. Only on the cases of rainy or windy days, the activity is suspended. We recommend you to seize Spring or Autumn season to practice this sport since nature’s color palette, green, yellow and orange, are just a beauty to see.
