Canyoning is a sport that can be practiced in dry or wet canyons. At Aldea Matacanes we offer you both options. Make the most of the best mountain scenery in the Sierra de Santiago, very close to Monterrey. At Aldea Matacanes we take you on guided walks through the hills, rivers, waterfalls, pools, basements and caves of the region.

We have 5 places where you can practice it:

1. Aguiluchos' Nest: located in the La Huasteca park, formed by large plates of limestone rock and rocky peaks that rise more than 500 meters high.

2. Cerro de la Silla: take a panoramic excursion ascending well-defined paths and paths.

3.Pico Piloto: this panoramic route includes mountaineering and rappelling for which you need basic knowledge.

4. Pico Urbano Street: you will ascend through the Ranchero canyon located 45 km away. from Monterrey, starting in a forested terrain until reaching the Paso del Cuervo port with magnificent panoramic views.

5.Aguiluchos del Sur: this is the best place since it is a challenge that tests the basic techniques that a person must know to survive in the mountains. With a 360º view you can see more than 80% of the Cumbres de Monterrey National Park.

Among some destinations and scenarios that we offer you in Aldea Matacanes, you will find:

-Pozo del Gavilán: descends 82 meters to a lagoon of impressive blue water. On this tour you can visit the Labradores lagoon, El Cerro del Potosí (the highest in Nuevo León) and the Puente de Dios.

-Sótano de las Golondrinas: descend 375 meters into a natural bell-shaped abyss until you reach the moss floor.

- Cueva Tierrosa: is a cavern with more than 300 meters of progression with deep water and narrow cavities.

- Pterodactyl Cave: This is a descent into a very easy to navigate cave located in La Trinidad, Montemorelos.

- Bustamante Caves: We are going to explore the third vault of this incredible cave with very good equipment that will allow us to admire the rock formations drawn by the stalactites and stalagmites.

Each place has an inexplicable magic and charm, its difficulty varies but we surely have the place you need. You don't have to worry about the equipment because we provide you with a helmet, harness, descent and ascent system, ropes and guide equipment (contingencies and first aid)

With Aldea Matacanes you can enjoy the best mountain biking in several ways. On the one hand, we offer you more than 20 kilometers of all-terrain track for Mountain biking near the base camp. Bring your bike and practice descents and rides in the middle of the forest of the Santiago mountains.

If you prefer to take a guided route, our experts will organize 2 tours for you:

- Ojo Caliente: located in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila: it is the ideal place for minors accompanied by a parent, with a distance of 60 km. and with an intermediate level. The routes consist of ascending through a gap until reaching the shore of the Pesquería River.

- Los Fierro: It is in Rinconada in the García area. It is an exciting route on the bike.
Remember that you should carry a back pack to carry food, cycling gloves and sunscreen.
