Night for two with breakfast among the olive trees in Calcata, near Rome

Are you looking for a night out of Rome without spending half a day in the car? In Calcata, less than an hour from the city, a wooden room for two with a transparent roof that opens awaits you. It is located under the centuries-old olive trees of a B&B in the Treja Valley, in a garden of approximately 3,000 square metres. Breakfast with local products is included and served on the terrace in front of the woods, while upon arrival you will find a welcome drink.

The host, Simone, is an environmental hiking guide and excursions in the valley are booked separately with him. Upon request you can also have a picnic, an aperitif at sunset or a barbecue dinner under the stars, which must be requested a day in advance. The house cats and a very large and good dog live in the garden.

The bathroom is external, glamping style. WC and sink are indoors, while the shower is outdoors. You won't find any electrical outlets in your room, so charge everything before leaving and bring a power bank. There isn't even heating: the room is used from March to October and warm clothes are needed on mid-season evenings.

The old village of Calcata, perched on a tuff spur above the valley, is just a few minutes away, and from the Valle del Treja Regional Park you can walk to the Monte Gelato waterfalls.

How many stars you will see depends on the clouds and the moon. If you care, choose a date far from the full moon, because when the moon lights up the sky you can see much fewer of them.
