General information
Company Overview
The SkyRoom is a company from Cavalese, in Val di Fiemme, which designs wooden rooms for two with a transparent roof. It installs them in member farmhouses and bed and breakfasts, in a network that goes from Piedmont to Basilicata. Behind the project is Nicola Nardin. Each room is set up inside a partner structure, which welcomes you, prepares breakfast when it is scheduled and organizes activities in the area.
The room has a fir structure and mirrored windows which reflect the trees during the day and do not allow the inside to be seen from the outside. Above the bed there is a transparent polycarbonate roof that slides on guides and on warm nights opens by hand. Inside you will find the double bed and little else, so it is best to travel with light luggage.
The bathroom is never inside the room. It is located in the main house or in a small building nearby, at a distance that varies from structure to structure and which we indicate in each proposal. There are no electrical outlets in the room. There is also a lack of heating and thermal insulation, so the season runs from March to October.
The rooms we offer here are in Tuscany and Lazio, each with its own character. In Reggello the room is in a farmhouse with a Valdarno equestrian centre, with the crags in the background and 2 kilometers of dirt road to get there. In Gambassi Terme, in Valdelsa, it is located under the main house of a 60-hectare organic farm that grows saffron and spelled. In Calcata, in the Treja Valley and less than an hour from Rome, there is a B&B under the olive trees where breakfast is taken on the terrace looking at the forest.
You can arrive in all of them by car, because public transport does not reach the facilities. Local activities can be booked separately with your host and range from horseback riding to truffle hunting, to excursions with an environmental guide. For the night, little is needed: a power bank, a torch to reach the bathroom in the dark and something warm for the evenings at the beginning and end of the season.
