Sicily is a spectacular location, and the specific spot hosting this competition is truly unparalleled. Why? Because it features snow-covered landscapes with the sea as a breathtaking backdrop. Plus, the island is home to Europe’s highest volcano—what more could you ask for?
Kilian Jornet will aim to maintain his lead, joined—as expected—by his teammate Mireia Miró, who arrives as the individual race runner-up after her performance in the Andorra World Cup.

At the same championship held in "the land of the Pyrenees," Jornet secured a victory, arriving in Etna as the current leader. He’s admitted that the past two weeks gave him ample time to train while enjoying the mountains:
"I’ve had good weather and could focus on technical and high-mountain training, so I’m very satisfied."
Today, he faced a race with a 770-meter elevation gain in the vertical race, and tomorrow he’ll compete in the individual race. His performance today earned him first place again, ahead of Italians Manfred Reichegger and Pietro Lanfranchi. Swiss athlete Martin Anthamatten took fourth.

Meanwhile, Mireia Miró claimed second place behind France’s Laetitia Roux and ahead of Italy’s Roberta Pedranzini. The Catalan athlete will need to give her all to secure a win and repeat last season’s successes.
