10 things to do in Extremadura

If you have chosen Extremadura to be the destination for your next escapade, you only have to decide with what adventures you want to prepare your trip to make it unforgettable. Here are some ideas about the activities you can find in Cáceres and Badajoz.

1. Become a pilot for a day in Don Benito.



Board a light aircraft with an experienced instructor and let him/her give you the controls in some moments, while you fly over places like the Orellana Reservoir or the Serena dam. You will fly for one hour, plus another 30 minutes prior to the theoretical training.

2. Discover La Vera with a horseback ride.



Book an equestrian trip to ride through the Jarandilla de la Vera and surroundings, admiring the panoramics in the Tiétar valley. Sometimes, you can even contemplate the Sierra of Gredos. After the route, a menu in a restaurant will be waiting for you. The perfect plan!

3. Travel with a quad the zone of Monasterio.



If you like motor activities, you will love this route, crossing the Dehesa of Extramadura and the pine trees forests that surround this municipality. In total, you will travel 15 kilometers, whilst following the guide that will show you the road at all times.

4. Rappeling in Papúos ravine.



In the middle of the Jerte valley, you will find this ravine, the perfect sample of the extraordinary sights that Extremadura hides. We will spend half a day crossing the river and face two jumps, five natural slides, and other five cliffs. An unforgettable adventure!

5. A balloon ride over Mérida.



Discover the capital of Extremadura with a hot air balloon ride that will allow you to watch the most important places, like the Roman theater, or the bridge, also Romanesque. Whilst flying, we will be recording the whole experience with an HD video recorder -a video that you will take home. Once we land, we will make a toast with champagne and enjoy lunch.

6. Navigate with a kayak next to Plasencia.



In the surroundings of this city, you will find several options to enjoy a trip with this type of watercraft. You can reach the Gabriel and Galán reservoirs, in the Ambros valley, or the Valle del Jerte swamp, if you prefer that option. In addition to the route, the guide will organize a fun water gymkhana.

7. Enjoy a paratrike flight over Los Barruecos.



You can participate in one these flight session, that can last from 20 to 60 minutes. Other destinations you can choose are the Sierra of Fuentes, but there is more. The pilot is open to suggestions, as long as is something practical. We will record the flight with a GoPro camera.

8. Practice speleology in the Sierra of San Miguel.



Join us to visit one of the best peaks that are found near the location of Llerena. Also, these are routes that in addition to hiking, we will need to use some ropes and rappel.

9. Travel through Las Hurdes with an all-terrain.



Visit and discover this Cacereña region with a jeep, with a professional pilot that takes from a point to another, to see, among other places, the Meandro Melero of the Alagón River. You can choose a half-a-day to a whole weekend adventure if you are staying in the area.

10. Karting race in Talavera la Real.



Board one of these GT 2 karts and accelerate on a fantastic outdoor racetrack, next to the region that belongs to Guadiana, and that is also famous due to the important Air Force base.
