10 things to do in Cáceres

Discover that leisure in the largest city in Spain does not end between its historic streets of Roman and Moorish origin. Cáceres offers you great experiences that you did not expect and the different spaces that make up its province are often unknown. You're slow to take a look for them. These are our suggestions:

1.Enjoy a trip through Hurdes.



You will know what the "black architecture" of its villages built with slate, a color that has fueled the legends that surround the area for decades. These contrast with a nature that has become strong around small urban centers between the Sierra de Gata and Las Batuecas, sheltering stretches of up to seven different rivers such as the Malo or Ovejuela channels.

2. Monfragüe National Park visits with an 4x4 off-road:



You can not miss the main natural park of Extremadura, watered by the mighty channel of the Tagus, on its trip to Portugal, and by the waters of Tiétar. As you are approaching, you will begin to see vultures gliding over their peaks and you will have the opportunity to contemplate the historical vestiges they still keep among their forests, climbing up to the Monfragüe Castle. And best of all, uploaded to a 4X4 with which to reach even the most recondite places.

3. Learn to be a cheese shepherd in Descargamaría:



An experience after which you will never look with the same eyes at the supermarket shelf. This time you will be the one in charge of getting the milk in a traditional farm milking a goat and then participate in the process of making the cheese. Of course, you will have the opportunity to try it before leaving.

4. Ride through La Vera.



On a horseback, you have the perfect means to go to their viewpoints from which you will have full views of the Tiétar Valley and its most famous towns, Losar de la Vera and Jarandilla. It is a route in which it is easy for you to find raptors and streams in which to refresh the equine's legs. Also, although it is a very complete tour, it is quite simple if you do not have any kind of experience.

5. Paratriking over Valle del Jerte.



Spectacular for its cherry blossoms, from the air is even more amazing. Go for a walk in the skies at a height of 1200 meters from Peña Negra. As you will fly by a motor, the trip can be lengthened so that you have a good perspective of the beauty of its groves full of flowers in light tones.

6. Quading through the Sierra of Gredos.



In Cáceres, the valleys seem to have no end and are each more curious. At the controls of this vehicle, perfect for the roads of the mountains, you will leave from Losar de la Vera in the direction of Valle de la Garganta Cuartos and Vadillo. Following ascending and varied paths you will be able to take full advantage of your piloting.

7. Aircraft flight in the Pantano de Orellana:



Board an ultralight plane in Don Benito, one of the most important cities in Badajoz, to fly over the Serena Reservoir. Yes, it is not properly Cáceres, but in aviation, you will need a nearby authorized point to take off and this is the one you will find available to make you with this adventure.

8.Drive a kart at the outskirts of Cáceres:



Get closer to the road of Miajadas to download tensions at the wheel on an outdoor track with a layout similar to the professionals. With a round of 10 minutes, you will have the first sensations of the car and you will know what time you are able to mark in the Chrono after each lap.

9. Paddle surfing in the Borbolló reservoir.



Sail with all the tranquility that will give you the waters of the Gabriel y Galán reservoir in which the channel that arrives from the Alagón River is collected. You will be paddling immersed in the landscapes that the Sierra de Gata will set as a stage around you.

10. Descend the Papúos ravine.



Put a little more action on your way through Cáceres, trying the canyoning in El Jerte. You can see the Chorro de la Ventera, with its total height of 30 meters, doing abseiling, as well as jumping into the pools that time has dug into the rock. Do not let this figure scare you because it can be done even by a child from 12 years old.
