The meeting place for this excursion will be Puerto de Cotos, in the parking area. Here the guides will explain how to put on your rackets and how to properly support the poles. When we are ready, we will begin to ascend, to reach the Laguna Grande de Peñalara, generated by a huge glacier from more than 11 millennia ago.
At the highest part of our route we can see the peaks of Dos Hermanas and Peñalara, and of course the Bola del Mundo, just on the opposite side of the valley along the that we are going through.
The return path runs between large specimens of reddish pine. We will descend until we reach Venta Marcelino, in Puerto de Cotos, where we will end the excursion.
The journey we will do has a low-medium level. If you are used to hiking routes, you will have no problem completing the 6 kilometers that it measures in total.
You should come equipped with mountaineering clothing and a backpack with some food and drink. You must adequately protect your face from the sun.
