If you want to sleep in the hills of Valdelsa, not far from San Gimignano and Volterra, this is a night for two with breakfast included. You sleep in a wooden room with a transparent and opening roof, located under the main house of a 60-hectare organic farm in Gambassi Terme. In front of the room the gaze runs over the hills. On warm nights the roof opens and leaves the sky clear above the bed.
The company grows saffron and spelled and produces oil, cheeses, jams and honey. With your hosts you can book a guided tour of the property, a cooking workshop or a tasting separately. There is also truffle hunting together with the truffle hunter and his dog. In the evening, upon request, you can have dinner with the company's products and pay on the spot.
The bathroom is private and is located behind the main house about 100 meters from the room. Towels must be brought from home. There are no sockets in the room, but the hosts will show you the closest one to charge your cell phone. The room is not heated and can be booked from March to October: heavy pajamas are recommended for the nights at the beginning and end of the season. Those who have already stayed there remember above all the breakfast and the welcome of the family, and the only comment concerns the road to the bathroom.
Gambassi Terme is a stop on the Via Francigena, which from here to San Gimignano is just over 13 kilometres. By car you will also quickly reach Volterra and Monteriggioni. Book your night and keep the morning free after breakfast to go up to San Gimignano!
