Night in a 19th century apartment for four in Rocca Grimalda

This night for four people in Rocca Grimalda we spend in a three-storey apartment, housed in a nineteenth-century stone house in Alto Monferrato. Breakfast is not included. You will have your own kitchen and organize yourself like in a holiday home.

The facade alternates stone and pink plaster, with green shutters and a large tree with drooping branches in front of the entrance. The renovation left wood, stone and bricks exposed: you will find them in the ceiling beams and in the kitchen vault, while the railing at the top of the stairs is made of branches.

On the ground floor there is a bathroom with shower and a kitchen equipped with stove, oven and table. On the first floor there is the double bedroom with an antique wooden bed. From this room a wooden staircase goes up to the attic, where the two single beds await you under the beamed ceiling. Looking out of the bedroom windows you will see the village of Silvano d'Orba with its castle and the surrounding hills.

A family with two grown-up children settles down without thinking: the parents in the double bedroom and the kids in the attic. Two couples of friends will instead have to decide who gets the big bed, knowing that to go down to the bathroom whoever sleeps upstairs goes through the other couple's room. Children are allowed, but with little ones please take the stairs into account.

You'll take care of the meals, so do the shopping before you arrive and also remember the next morning. When the weather permits you can take breakfast or lunch outside in the independent garden of the house.

By dividing the cost into four, the apartment becomes a convenient base for visiting Gavi with its Fort, Ovada and Acqui Terme, or for wandering around the hills and cellars. Staying in Rocca Grimalda you can see the medieval village and the Mask Museum, and go with the kids to the San Giacomo riding school. Upon returning, the car can be left in a fenced area.
