Within the municipality of Lentegí there are two canyoning areas: Guadarjama Canyon and Lentegí Canyon. They can be done separately or both in the same day. The first area is Guadarjama and the second is Lentegí.
Here we'll show you everything you need to know about these two canyons.
Lentegí Canyon
Lentegí Canyon is located in the municipality that gives it its name. It's very close to the Tejeda and Almijara Natural Park. It's quite a popular canyon as it's near the great Río Verde canyon in Otívar. It's not very crowded, which makes this canyon more special.

The Lentegí riverbed is a limestone canyon notable for its green, crystal-clear waters, jumps, natural slides and abseils of up to 25 metres. It features 12 abseils in total and several high slides.

Lentegí Canyon has two entry points to begin the descent: via the Guadarjama riverbed which meets Lentegí 4 kilometres downstream; or via the Lentegí river itself but further upstream.
The canyon route begins with a dry riverbed that then becomes vertical. At the end of this section you'll encounter a 27-metre abseil divided into two parts.

Next comes an area with more water flow where the first rock pools appear. From here begins the most challenging but most fun section. The first abseils and pools appear in a narrow gorge.

The highlight is a beautiful 25-metre waterfall at the start of this section. It continues with several abseils and pools until the gorge opens up. There are 15 abseils in total throughout the descent.

The canyon route is 6000 metres long with a 350-metre elevation drop. The difficulty is medium-high and the descent takes approximately 5-6 hours. It has such good water flow that the descent can be done year-round.

Guadarjama Canyon
Guadarjama Canyon is a lesser-known canyon located in Guadarjama. This canyon ends where the waters of Lentegí River Canyon begin. The Guadarjama River is a tributary of this river.
This canyon route, with its carbonate rocks, is 4000 metres long with a 350-metre elevation drop. It's a low-medium difficulty canyon so it's suitable for descending with children.

The descent takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes. The canyon can be done year-round. Right at the start of the descent you'll encounter the first abseil. In this section you'll find abseils and waterfalls from 8 to 17 metres.

After this section and before reaching Lentegí Canyon, you'll come to the most aquatic part of the canyon. Here you'll find jumps into pools, natural slides and a great 25-metre abseil down a waterfall that's absolutely amazing.
This canyon ends by merging with the Lentegí Canyon route. An abseil will place you into the bed of this narrow river.
