Best Beaches for Snorkelling on the Costa Cálida

1. Calblanque Beach

This is a natural beach located in the Calblanque Regional Park, an untouched area unspoiled by human development. This protected zone is one of the most beautiful and sought-after beaches in the Murcia Region.



It’s a long stretch of fine sand surrounded by hills and rocky formations. Its crystal-clear waters and vibrant seabed make it the perfect spot for snorkelling. The natural setting is breathtaking.

2. La Manga del Mar Menor

La Manga del Mar Menor is one of Murcia’s most famous beaches among tourists. Also known as Playa Paraíso, it’s bathed by two seas—the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor. This 1,200-metre beach is often crowded.
The waters are warm and shallow, attracting many visitors for water sports, including snorkelling.
The most incredible part lies at the end of the beach, where the Mar Menor and Mediterranean meet. Snorkelling here reveals an impressive seabed rich with marine species.

3. Cabo de Palos

Cabo de Palos is a coastal village just before La Manga del Mar Menor. It boasts numerous coves ideal for snorkelling or diving, with stunning underwater landscapes.



Cabo de Palos has a marine reserve, making it one of Europe’s top spots for snorkelling and diving. It also features a marine sanctuary.


4. La Azohía Beach

Ranked among Murcia’s best beaches, it’s located in La Azohía, near Cabo Tiñoso. This small fishing village is surrounded by a rocky, natural landscape.
The beach is 800 metres long and 8 metres wide, with crystal-clear waters and a uniquely beautiful seabed, perfect for diving or snorkelling.



Its rocky surfaces are ideal for snorkelling, offering a wealth of marine life and breathtaking underwater scenery. It even has a dolphin reserve.

5. El Portús Beach

Lesser-known but highly recommended, this cove lies in El Portús, between Mazarrón and Cartagena—a small fishing town with coves nestled between mountains and cliffs.



The cove has coarse sand due to its rugged surroundings. Its clear waters are perfect for snorkelling and diving, and the scenery is spectacular.

6. Poniente Beach

Poniente Beach, one of many in Águilas, is a popular coastal spot between La Casica Verde beach and the La Colonia breakwater.



Stretching 1,100 metres, it’s mostly golden sand and well-equipped for water sports like snorkelling and diving.

7. La Carolina Beach

Also known as Los Ingleses, La Carolina Beach is a Protected Natural Landscape spanning half a kilometre.
This natural beach has fine sand and varying depths, with calm waters ideal for snorkelling.
Surrounding rocks and dunes form a natural windbreak, and the water stays pleasantly warm.
