The province of Alicante has always stood out for its abundance of active tourism offerings, particularly water-based activities. Its mild climate year-round makes this Mediterranean region a favourite among tourists. One of the most popular activities is snorkelling and scuba diving. It’s worth noting that snorkelling and diving are not the same—the latter requires certification and additional training. Another of the many activities available in the area is paragliding, which is closely linked to this Mediterranean region.

Diving is an incredibly rewarding activity with an element of mystery. Exploring the seabed is full of unexpected surprises, but its beauty will undoubtedly leave you awestruck and eager to return time and again. Before we continue, take a moment to check out all the options available in the area. Let’s dive in.

BEST DIVING SPOTS ON THE COSTA BLANCA

1. Tabarca Marine Reserve

Considered one of the most spectacular diving spots in the country and Spain’s first designated marine reserve in 1986. Its biodiversity, stunning beauty, and exceptional conservation status make it the "diving mecca" of the Costa Blanca.

Tabarca

With crystal-clear waters and spanning nearly 1,400 hectares around Tabarca Island, the marine life here—such as groupers, dusky perch, and gilthead seabream—makes for an unmatched diving experience. Absolutely recommended!

2. Cabo de San Antonio Marine Reserve

The rocky cove of El Fresquito is another top spot along this magnificent coast. The only drawback is its challenging access, but once submerged, the abundance of marine life makes it a favourite among divers.

 Fresquito

The area features vast meadows of Posidonia seagrass, rocky platforms, and stunning white sandy seabeds that serve as a refuge for octopuses, moray eels, and countless other marine species. Without a doubt, this protected area is one of the best.

3. Calpe Arches

Simply spectacular! The Ifach Arches in Calpe, near La Fossa, are underwater rock formations that will leave you breathless. Located at around 9 metres deep, it’s common to spot white seabream, groupers, and meagre.

The largest arch leads to a series of smaller arches, welcoming divers and the area’s countless marine species alike. A fascinating and awe-inspiring site that will make your visit to Calpe and the Ifach Rock unforgettable.

4. La Llosa

Just off Benidorm Island, you’ll find one of the best dive sites in the Alicante region. Visibility is excellent, allowing dives up to 30 metres deep. Recommended for professionals, though beginners can also explore the shallower, life-covered walls.
