Here are the top diving spots on the Costa Brava:
1. Punta Santa Anna
Punta Santa Anna, also known as "the gateway to the Costa Brava", is located near Blanes in the town's fishing port.

This is a well-known spot among local divers, with the advantage of beach-entry dives. It's an easy-level dive with a maximum depth of 16 metres.
2. Cala S’Agüia
Situated on the outskirts of Blanes, this hidden gem remains largely undiscovered by tourists.
Cala S’Agüia is exceptionally sheltered from waves, nestled between two striking islets that create a dramatic visual impact.
The dive itself is straightforward, though the pebble-and-rock beach lacks sand.

3. Fenals Beach
Located in Lloret de Mar, this beach offers multiple dive sites at shallow depths near both ends – perfect for beginners honing their skills.

The northern dive starts from shore, progressing south to north with depths of 6-8 metres.
The southern site features a prominent islet with far more vibrant marine life.
4. Medes Islands
This marine reserve near L’Estartit teems with aquatic biodiversity, including large species protected within its waters.

Dive sites cater to all levels across Meda Gran and Meda Petita. Key spots on Meda Gran include: El Salpatxot, El Medallot, Pedra de Deu, Pota del Llop, La Vaca and L’Embarcador. On Meda Petita: La Ressagosa, El Dofí, Les Ferranelles and Cara Bernat.
5. Ullastres
Located off Llafranc, this area comprises three underwater mountains (Ullastres 1-3) south of Cap de Sant Sebastià, varying by distance from shore.
- Ullastres 1: The shallowest (10-32m), ideal for less experienced divers as it's most sheltered and closest to land.

- Ullastres 2: Slightly more challenging but most popular. Depths range 8-40m with dramatic 20m+ rock formations.
- Ullastres 3: The most demanding yet breathtaking, starting at 8m and plunging to 55m.

6. Formigues Islands
The Formigues Islands are boat-access islets with crystal-clear waters perfect for diving.
Alongside the Medes Islands, this is one of the Costa Brava’s most frequented dive sites (9-45m depth).

Expect underwater caves and towering seamounts blanketed in sponges and corals.
7. Cap de Creus
Catalonia’s first marine protected area includes Massa d’Or island and La Rata.

Dives reach 50m with rich marine fauna, though strong currents require caution.
8. Las Gorgonias
This technical diving site off Lloret de Mar features a slab at 56m depth.

Boat-entry dives here are uncrowded due to the advanced depth requirements.
