The premier diving exhibition in Spain will take place next weekend, on 24th and 25th March, at the Crystal Pavilion in Madrid's Casa de Campo. We're talking about the Dive Travel Show 2012 (DTS) – do you still not know what it is?

Do you dive? Then you'll love it! And if not, you can always enjoy the wide range of options available in our country by following this link.

Wreck diving

Diving and the wrecks of the Mediterranean and the world are the key themes of the exhibition, as it’s not just a simple trade fair with stands, but also features activities centred around scuba diving, sustainable tourism and everything that entails. This is why, according to Ingrid Riera, the event director, "it’s an exhibition for everyone, not just diving enthusiasts".

This year’s theme revolves around environmental conservation, so the Dive Travel Show has invited Paul Watson, Captain of the Sea Shepherd, an organisation committed to protecting marine species and oceans. He will give a talk on "Wrecks of the Mediterranean and the World", and we’ll also see Pierre-Yves Cousteau, son of the great Jacques Cousteau and director of Cousteau Divers.

Photography contest at Dive Travel Show

Another notable figure attending the exhibition is internationally renowned diver Daniel Mercier, an expert in underwater imaging and director of the World Festival of this speciality for 39 years. Additionally, members of Jesús Calleja’s team and Andrew Georgitsis (wreck explorer), among others, will be present.

Alongside the numerous diving company stands and various talks and presentations by specialists and diving personalities, there will also be photographic exhibitions and screenings of films, documentaries and themed videos.

The first photography competition by Forobuceo.com will take place, and there will be numerous travel raffles, with Egypt standing out as the main diving destination, being the guest country for this 2012 edition. We’ve covered Diving in the Red Sea – if you’d like more information, you can find it here.

Diving Destinations

For many, Spain is the diving mecca of Europe, as its geography offers not only the best conditions for diving but also some of the finest waters: the Mediterranean, the Atlantic and the Cantabrian Sea. Wrecks, reefs, caves, diverse marine life... Without a doubt, a true paradise for divers.

But diving opportunities aren’t limited to Spain—if you want to explore other countries and combine travel + diving, the Dive Travel Show will let you discover fascinating locations such as:

 Do you dare to dive?

  • Cayman. The Cayman Islands are one of the top destinations for diving enthusiasts, with waters offering visibility of up to 35-40 metres deep. You can also enjoy wreck diving or explore lush reefs.
  • Cozumel. The Yucatán Peninsula boasts incredible dive sites. Diving in Cozumel is one of the best ways to experience natural beauty and the splendour of the Caribbean. Discover coral reefs and lose yourself in its cenotes (freshwater dive caves).
  • Malta. Another must-visit for diving lovers is the Maltese archipelago, a prime location for your favourite hobby. It’s also affordable, with excellent visibility, no strong currents or tides, and breathtaking caves, making it even more appealing.
