If you want to see the island from above, this is the sport you need to experience. Here are the 5 best areas for paragliding in Tenerife.
1. Izaña
This offers one of Spain's highest flights with the greatest altitude and one of the largest elevation drops. At the start of your flight, you'll enjoy magnificent views of Mount Teide – one of Europe's highest coastal areas. Flights begin at Teide's summit, 2,300 metres above sea level. Important: Always check weather conditions before flying!

Landing zones include Puerto de la Cruz in the north and La Ladera or Playa del Puertito in the south.
With favourable conditions, the difficulty level is intermediate (2-3).
2. Ifonche Vilaflor
The launch point is in northeast Güímar, 1,000 metres above sea level. The take-off ramp and preparation area sits at 750 metres above sea level.

Landings occur at the black sand Playa de la Caleta in Adeje, but only during winter months. Estimated flight duration is 30-45 minutes.
3. Taucho, Adeje
Located in the Adeje municipality in southern Tenerife. Flights begin at 760 metres above sea level and are only available with southerly or westerly winds. Landing options include Armeniñe or Playa de La Caleta (winter only).

Difficulty varies by time of day: early morning/late afternoon offers intermediate/low difficulty (2-4) while midday flights are intermediate/high (3-4).
4. La Corona
The launch point at La Corona is in northern Los Realejos municipality. Flights are possible with northerly/easterly winds at 765 metres altitude.
Landing zones are Los Realejos and Playa del Socorro. Avoid flying June-August.

Difficulty depends on flight time: basic level (1-2) at dawn/dusk, intermediate/high (3-4) at midday.
5. Ladera de Güímar
As the name suggests, launches occur in Güímar municipality at 725 metres altitude. Land at Playa Puertito (winter only when beach is empty) or La Ladera.

Available with northeast/northwest winds. Basic difficulty (1-2) at dawn/dusk, intermediate/high (3-4) at midday.
