The Les Espones Canyon, nestled within a forest, is located in Vall Fosca, in front of the Roi i d’En Solà Canyon, also known as the Montrós Canyon. This canyon lies in Pallars Jussà, in Lleida.
It is one of the star canyons of the area, featuring numerous natural water slides that flow year-round and breathtaking landscapes. You’ll feel like you’re in the middle of a jungle, surrounded by lush vegetation throughout the descent.

It has a medium difficulty level, and the descent takes approximately 3-4 hours. The rock formations in this canyon are granite and slate.
The route spans 2000 metres with a 300-metre elevation drop. The recommended time to attempt the descent is between May and September. It is not advisable to go earlier, as the water flow is very cold and abundant.

Canyon Route
This is a highly entertaining canyon, characterised by a large number of natural slides and short abseils performed within waterfalls.

The canyon consists of two parts: the first, more challenging, with more abseils and jumps; and the second, easier, with slides and some jumps. It features 4 abseils, the tallest being 18 metres high.

The descent begins with a small 3-metre jump, followed by a 5-metre drop that leads to a short slide of about 6 metres.
Continuing on, you’ll encounter another jump and a couple of longer slides. From there, you’ll reach a ledge that can be passed without much difficulty.

After this, you’ll face the first 5-metre abseil. It’s one of the most beautiful abseils of the descent, as the waterfall forms when water flows over a log embedded in the stream.
Beyond this section, you’ll reach one of the most scenic parts of the canyon. This area features reddish rock formations, including a 10-metre and a 4-metre abseil.
Further ahead, you’ll encounter two more ledges, which can be descended like slides.

The descent continues with an 8-metre and a 10-metre abseil. As you proceed, you’ll come across two more abseils.
Next, there’s a small optional abseil, followed by another optional ledge that leads to a slide split into two parts.
Afterwards, there’s a short 8-metre abseil and a launch slide—6 metres descended via abseil and 2 metres via slide.

Beyond this, you’ll reach the second part. Here, you’ll find various pools and an 8-metre slide. From there, the route includes smaller slides and some simple jumps.
