The vineyards of Cellers Joan d'Anguera were planted by the family ancestors who settled here, in Montsant in 1820. They were the pioneers, the Joan D'Angueras who from the beginning developed that magical complicity that unites man with the earth.
In this way it is understood that the first strain of Syrah in Spain was planted in these vineyards. And, perhaps for that reason, it is here where history can be felt in the atmosphere. Centennial olive trees border the vineyards, the gravel of the soil is shown in all its roughness and the Mediterranean air brings the aromas that the vines then capture and transform into unique aromas and flavors.
The Montsant designation of origin, of which Cellers Joan d'Anguera is a part, has a geographical configuration as particular as its soil. It is an area of 2000 hectares that almost completely surrounds the Priorat denomination, adopting the shape of a capital letter C.
In the wine process we try to maintain as much as possible the tradition that surrounds the production of this product, adapting it to the latest technology, which facilitates the process in an important way.
The first step is harvesting, in which the grapes are selected. Next comes fermentation, with rigorous control of temperatures with which the magical and mysterious prodigy of wine metamorphosis develops. Thus we come to the moment of leaving the wine until it finds itself, developing its own unique personality.
