Summary Kitesurfing
The Kite surf courses that we teach are 8 hours divided into two or three sessions. The environment where we teach the courses could not be better. Sand islands emerge right in front of our school and we take you on inflatable boats to teach the courses. It is an idyllic area to learn, there are no swimmers, no type of obstacles and in the wind it is constant. It is possibly one of the best places in Spain to learn and practice kitesurfing.
You can give the course in a group, semi-private and private. In a group it generally has to be defined and consists of 3 or 4 people with two kites and a single instructor. In semi-private the ratio is two students per kite and instructor, this is the usual formula. In private it is one student per kite and one instructor. The level in all options is the same.
We give the course in three levels: a first level on land you learn the wind window. Using progressively larger kites we teach you how to lift the kite safely, fly it with ease, and activate the safety systems and basic signals. In a second level we begin to handle the kite in the water but without a board. At this level we prepare you to make it as easy as possible for you to get on the board. You will begin to gain more power, you will learn to recover the board if you lose it and to relaunch the kite if you drop it in the water. In the third level, the objective is for the student to sail a few meters and, above all, to be able to practice it autonomously.
Throughout the development of the course, the level is set by the student, always trying to advance as quickly as possible. We also do personalized courses to focus on advancing where you need it most.
Summary Sailing
Through the waters of the Atlantic in Isla Canela, Huelva, you can enjoy several days of sailing aboard a catamaran. An excellent way to learn all the secrets that sailing on these sailboats holds, living an experience on the high seas.
Our training proposal in catamaran navigation is made up of a 10-hour course that we divide into 5 days. Normally we organize classes from Monday to Friday, doing the entire course in a row.
The first day of the course will be the most theoretical of all with an exhaustive explanation of the elements that make up the handling of a catamaran, the behavior of the sea and the wind, the choice of routes, etc. This way you will be able to have the precise foundation to start firmly.
The remaining 4 days will be dedicated to sailing through the waters near Isla Canela, with a maximum of 3 students being able to board the boat plus the invaluable and essential presence of the instructor.
It is necessary that you be over 12 years of age to attend the course and know how to swim minimally for safety reasons of the participant.
Summary Windsurfing
Windsurfing classes start on a Monday and end on Friday as long as the weather conditions and your availability are favorable. From 10 years of age onwards you can try windsurfing with our expert instructors.
Each day there will be 2 hours of class, which except for the first day, will all be in the water. Little by little we will face more complicated techniques and turns and higher wave heights.
The ultimate goal is for you to be on your own and control the windsurfing sail with complete ease and have maximum stability on the board.
Both the board, the sail and the life jacket will be given to you by the team of instructors and you can enjoy them throughout the course as well as rent them whenever you want to try on your own.
Summary Surfing
At Kanela Sailing School we want to bring surfing to a wide audience. That is why we teach surfing courses at our headquarters in Punta del Moral, considered one of the best beaches in Huelva to practice this sport. Due to the breakwater, the waves enter clean and orderly, in the perfect conditions to develop learning to surf.
You can choose between the following training modalities:
- Standard course: with a duration of 10 hours divided into 5 sessions of 2 hours.
- Private classes: the schedule will be agreed with the user but we recommend that the duration of the lessons be at least 2 hours to be able to correctly assimilate the knowledge.
- For free: we provide you with the material for rent. We have 20 soft pro boards and 8 fiber boards.
The classes are divided into 2 blocks: a brief theoretical lesson on land and a second practical part in the water. Our goal is that, in addition to learning the basics of surfing in a solid way, you know the environment and the operation of some techniques that can improve the practice of this sport, such as breaks, paddling techniques or how to pass the breakwater. .
* To attend the course you must be over 10 years old and swim fluently.
Summary Paddle Boarding
At Kanela both at our headquarters in Isla Canela and in Punta del Moral we offer paddle surf courses and rentals. We give the standard course in 10 hours spread over 5 days, although you can participate partially.
We start with a little theory and practice on land to start without making mistakes but most of the time it is in the water. We explain paddling techniques, good positioning, and introduction to the waves.
The surroundings of Isla Canela are beautiful for practicing paddle tennis since the sand islands that form off the coast make it a beautiful and quiet place to practice and discover new places.
When there is east in the strait there is a swell and at Punta del Moral Beach the clean and orderly waves arrive, perfect for learning to catch them with paddle tennis.
We also do spectacular cross country tours. We mainly work the descent of the Guadiana (3 hours) and the Marismas del RÃo Carreras (2 or 3 hours).
For groups we have at your disposal a giant paddle for a maximum of 8 people. You can't imagine how much fun it is.
Summary Kayaking
In Kanela we organize kayak trips that we can combine with participants on paddle surf boards in an excursion with the same cost for all that takes place through the Bajo Guadiana in the town of Ayamonte.
Our main routes are:
- The Descent of the Guadiana takes a minimum of 3 hours, and we descend the Guadiana River downstream from the Canela neighborhood to our facilities on the beach. The first part of the tour is along the imposing Guadiana River, with Villa Real (Portugal) in front. Halfway through the route we enter the marsh, through a labyrinthine area of pipes surrounded by nature. The last part of the tour is touring a completely wild natural beach.
- The Carreras River consists of a round trip from Punta del Moral with a minimum of 2 hours, it is done coinciding with high tide, in such a way that it always goes with the current. The entire route is first going up said river and passing through the beautiful town of Isla Cristina. Later we enter the marsh where we will be surrounded by nature, we also enter an area full of pipes.
- Esteros de Canela is the longest route we take with a minimum duration of 4 hours. It consists of crossing the marsh from Barriada de Canela to Punta del Moral. It is done through the winding channels of the marsh and is in a completely natural environment until we reach the fishing town of Isla Cristina, very close to the arrival point in Punta del Moral.
We do all the routes in a calm and relaxed way, suitable for all audiences, resting when the group needs it, in a pleasant atmosphere whose objective is to get to know the environment in a pleasant and fun way.
Summary Hen and Stag Dos
At Kanela Sailing School we put at your disposal the two water sports bases from which we work in the province of Huelva. These are located in both Isla Canela and Punta del Moral and from them we prepare special options for the visits we receive in groups.
If you are on a bachelor party you can select one of our activities individually or opt for packages in which we have several modalities planned:
- Multi-adventure 4 hours: depending on how many people you are, you will rotate to do all the sports that await you. You will take a ride on one of our catamarans, you will experience windsurfing, you will try how to row from the paddle surf board and you will sail on the canoes. Also if you want to expand the options we have pedal boats and surf classes among other lessons.
- Group tours: we follow the Bajo Guadiana with a canoe expedition, using SUP equipment or catamarans. With these means you will have the opportunity to observe the places of the marshes of Huelva and the number of birds that live there.
The rates for farewells and groups apply from a minimum of 5 people, 4 to board the catamaran to ascend the Guadiana riverbed or head to Portugal.

The course was not well structured, and we hardly even touched the water part, remaining halfway. It was planned for 3 days and it was finally two days on the go. -

We were disappointed when doing this activity, since we expected it to be more organized, daring and entertaining.
It was a little improvised and without any end, so comparing with other experiences we have had on other kayak routes, we must say that it is a little behind. We would not repeat.
