Company Overview

Water has been part of Cornwall like any other element and watersports have been part of our people and of our history. Because of that, we couldn't miss the chance and, in Padstow, a town bathed by the River Camel and that is well-known for the Obby 'Oss' festival (it celebrates the summertime coming where streets are full of flowers and people dance and follow someone who is dressed in a horse costume), we've been offering an important range of activities since 1977. From paddleboarding to waterskiing itself, our speciality, Camel Ski School has become the greatest and biggest company and centre of these sports in the United Kindom.

What does it make us that special? Experience and time are key factors for understanding people's needs and worries whenever they're coming to one of our sessions. That's why we have developed strong interpersonal communication and coaching in order to make you feel comfortable and safe during your time with us.

In addition, our director is Charlie Toogood, who became the owner of the company in 2001. He has been related to watersports for 18 years now. He takes seriously his training and is constantly improving his skills. He even has an important number of titles like Kitesurf Instructor, which is an international recognition that trained professionals with the highest standards; or the International Ski Instructors Association title, which boosts the skills of ski coaches.

The personnel is also selected and trained by Toogood, so every visitor and adventurer get and spend the same quality time with us!

This is Camel Ski School and you're waiting too long if you haven't already come to have fun with us!

Summary Water Skiing

Waterskiing has been part of our DNI since the beginning. At Camel Ski School, we've been offering, updating and improving our courses in order to give the best to those who came to our centre in Padstow, a coast town at the feet of the River Camel from where we take our name.

Since 1977, we help people to get familiar with this watersport that, according to history, it was first practised by Ralph Samuelson and his brother back in the 20s as part of their desire for adventure and new experiences. In our case, it was the first activity that we provided on the splendid water that surrounds us and it has made us become the best and the biggest company in the country dedicated to it.

In 2001, 18-year experience sportsman Charlie Toogood got the company and put all his efforts and passion to push forward all our standards. Without a doubt, it's a great opportunity that only we can offer you to learn by the side of one of the best!

We don't only choose all the members of our team personally, but also the boats. They are the safest in the market and we are constantly working to keep our equipment in great condition and up-to-date.

What else is important to know about us? Well, as part of our installations, we own a famous Cafe's that we call Camel Ski's Island. It is in the middle of the Camel river and you can get there to have one of the greatest coffees around by boat.

Remember that we are in Padstow and get here as soon as possible to learn, practise or improve your waterski skills!

Summary Paddle Boarding

They say water can offer different options and activities and, as we are located in Padstow, at the very heart of the river Camel, we couldn't miss the chance to offer paddleboarding activities, so you can discover the splendid land that wraps us in a very peaceful way.

Camel Ski School has been working in the area since 1977 and, in 2001, Charlie Toogood took over the company. He is one of the greatest instructors and watersport professionals in our country and has been active for 18 years now. As part of his quality standards, he chooses everyone that he works with, so people can enjoy the best experience of their life.

We have different types of boards to offer (that's why we've been recognised as the best company for years!), including a huge one that will turn the paddleboarding experience into an incredible opportunity to shake your adrenaline. Did you know that 6 people can paddleboard with this large board? Yes, you have read right!

At our facilities, you will find a parking area: the Rock Quarry Car Park. There is plenty of space to park there and you can walk a few 400 metres to get to us from there!

As we are a watersport company, you must know that water and weather conditions are important to actually hold the sessions. If you need to change the date, you must remember that 24 hours is the time that we require to do so.

Welcome to Camel Ski Water, the only place where paddleboarding becomes something else than a watersports modality!

Summary Kayaking

At Camel Ski School, we have always believed in the power of water, sport and people. Those three elements are how we also love summing up kayaking. Because yes, we do offer different kayaking sessions in Padstow, the town where we operate and work since 1977 and where we have become the largest ski and watersport activities company in the UK. The river Camel is the stage where you'll be performing your play. From private to group kayaks, we've been developing courses to make people familiar with the sport or push their skills to a higher level. You can even make new friends here!

Apart from the best kayaks, our location has the best facilities: Rock Quarry Car Park, a huge parking area where you can leave your vehicle during your time with us and which is a few minutes away from where sessions are held.

We also have the best team led by Charlie Toogood, who got in charge of the company in 2001. Our instructors have a long experience at their backs (Toogood, for example, has been working on the water for 18 years) and they are looking forward to sharing it with you.

Our kayaks have been picked up following a simple rule: no matter what experience you have, you are going to handle the paddles! Thus, we have invested in "boats" that are easy to manage and they keep the balance perfectly.

The water conditions of the river Camel are stunning too for people despite their previous experience.

Welcome to Camel Ski School, where kayaking finds its true meaning!

Summary Wakeboarding

At Camel Ski School, we love boards sports and, because of that, we couldn't resist it and, among our activities, we have also included waterboarding.

But let's get into details about why our company is the best for all of you.

Where are we? In Padstow, a place that has been traditionally a fishing area and that relationship with water is what has made us the biggest watersports company in Cornwall. To be a little more precise, we hold activities on the river Camel, a river that has the best water levels to practise waterboarding.

As you can arrive by car at our installations, we know that parking can be something that you're going to be worried about before leaving home, but don't! 400 metres away, you'll find the Rock Quarry Car Park, where there are available spots all the time.

At our school, we have an important amount of boards and wetsuits that will definitely suit you no matter your age, your physical features or your height. What about our boats? We have them all and we have the best. If, for instance, you want to try the experience in groups, we own Axis T22 boats, which are nearly 7 metres long, that we can use.

Our team, apart from being selected by our director Charlie Toogood, have the corresponding professional driving card that allows them to drive the boat that will pull you forward and they have the perfect social abilities to understand what your needs are and what your goals are: to get familiar with waterboarding or to improve your previous skills.

At Camel Ski School, we pay attention to all the details and we're just waiting for you to come to check how great the waterboard is!

Summary Surfing

Surfingh as spread worldwide since it was born in Hawaii. As celebrities have made it popular, many people love trying new experiences related to it. At Camel Ski School, a watersports company that has been working on the River Camel for over 40 years, we want to go further and we want to create the essential conditions to offer the best sessions. Because of that, we have chosen the wake surfing modality, where the board is pulled by a boat that, at the same time, creates the waves that you need. Adrenaline is guaranteed!

About our school, we must tell you that it was taken by Charlie Toogood in 2001. He is a professional with over a decade of experience at his back. We are also a school that follows the principles and rules of the British Water Ski & Wakeboard (BWSW), an association that, above all, is extremely strict on welfare issues.

As we are at the coastline, many people have doubts about parking. However, we are a few minutes away from a parking area, known as Rock Quarry Car Park, where you can park your car.

We don't become the best by chance, but with hard work. Equipment is important for us and we use the extraordinary Axis T22, a boat model from 2019 that allows us to boost the experience and shake the water to higher levels so you can spend a more exhilarating time than you would with other boats and other modalities.

Camel Ski School, remember the name! It's the company that you have to trust in order to get the best wake surfing time of your life!
