10 things to do in La Palma

If you visit the Canary island, La Palma, do not stay alone with sun and beach tourism. Also called Isla Bonita, this island has a wide variety of adventure activities that will make you explore, discover and enjoy all the wild nature that inhabits both land and sea. Dive with turtles, watch their volcanoes from a paraglider or drive a buggy along its trails of volcanic earth. These are our ten proposals:

1. Scuba Diving in Cancajos.



Start practicing scuba diving in the waters of the Cancajos Beach. Located in the municipality of Breña Baja, this beach won’t leave you indifferent. Its pure waters and dark sand, of volcanic origin, will offer you a spectacular landscape seen in very few places. If after the diving session you still want more, from the viewpoint located in the municipality's mountain you can see a great panoramic view of the island.

2. Buggy Route Through La Palma.



Do you like challenges? You can not go on these excursions in this peculiar 4x4. The trails located between the mountains of Breña Alta and Breña Baja, with volcanic terrains surrounded by dense vegetation, will give you incredible views at every moment, such as those of the Aridane Valley. Paradisiacal views and fun terrains are what awaits you if you get into one of these vehicles.

3. Watch Cetaceans in Tazacorte.



If you want to see up close how a whale is, a dolphin or a sea turtle, board a boat in Tazacorte and sail among animals. Although the sighting of cetaceans will be our main intention, the route that these animals draw will make us enjoy every minute at sea, as they move through areas such as the spectacular Veta beach, Cueva Bonita or the Tinizara well area.

4. Horseback Route Through San Juan Volcano.



One of the best touristic attractions of La Palma, its volcanic terrains and vegetation extend all over. Nothing better to visit the rugged lands of the Volcán de San Juan that mounted on the back of a horse. Located between Las Manchas and Todoque, you will witness one of the most spectacular natural creations of the island, the Todoque Cave.

5. Boat Trip Up To Poris Candelaria.



Depart from the Tazacorte port and sail next to the La Palma coast until reaching the Colorada Cave. A quiet boat trip, with the fresh sea breeze and the possibility of seeing the bottom of the sea thanks to its crystal clear waters, can make you surprise your partner or companions. Once you arrive at the Cueva Colorada you can enjoy the exploration of the cave from the water.

6. Kayaking in the Nogales Beach.



Enjoy the vertigo cliffs that rise above the sea from the beach of Nogales while you sail on its transparent waters. The tranquility of these coasts will make your route more enjoyable. And if you want to see them from both perspectives, you can stop rowing and climb to the heights to see the coast from your viewpoint.

7. Paragliding Over the Jedey Volcano.



Overfly the territory with a paraglide. The sensations that will transmit and the great visibility, much more than if you were in ultralight or helicopter, will be an adventure to remember. On the way, you will pass over the Jedey volcano and land on the beautiful beach of Puerto de Naos.

8. The Zoo in Breña.



Would you like to see the emblematic Nile crocodile, or are you more of small animals like the titi monkey? In the town of Breña, you have the opportunity to spend a good day surrounded by the most exotic animals you will find on the island thanks to its zoo. The landscape surrounding these facilities will make you feel like a kind of Hawaiian jungle.

9. Bike Route Through Tinajo.



If you are in La Palma, do not stay with the desire to make a good bike route. The mild climate, the typical views of film prints and their paths surrounded by greenery, will take you through a dream adventure. Visit the inhospitable trails of Los Tilos or the rocky lands of the Caldera de Taburiente.

10. Canyoning in Marcos & Cordero.



Practice the descent of ravines in its pure state, between the laurel forests that are in the springs of Marcos and Cordero. Composed of river channels and water tunnels, this may be the most daring experience you have faced so far. You will be surrounded at all times by the wildest nature of this small Canarian island.
