Company Overview
OceanExplorer La Palma is a company that is dedicated to organizing maritime excursions and whale watching on the west coast of the island of La Palma.
We have two ships in our fleet:
- The Bussard, an old hooligan ship originating from the seas of northern Europe. In addition to getting to know the environment, you will know what these types of boats used daily to work in search of this catch were like.
- The Inia, a semi-rigid boat specially built to carry out the whale watching activity. She will take us to the passageways of these large marine animals to see them up close.
Thanks to the abundance of cetaceans on the palm coasts we have a sighting rate of over 95%.
At the same time, both boats are specially adapted to carry out the activity in the least invasive way possible, for this 2 250hp Susuki engines have been installed on the Inia, especially silent so as not to disturb the cetaceans.
We also have a hydrophone on board our boat that will make you hear the unique sounds of dolphins and whales.

At Bussard OceanExplorer we are lovers of the sea and sailing and we want everyone to join us so they can discover how fascinating the marine world is.
For this we have the Bussard boat, an old hooligan boat.
We have 2 types of excursions on our boat:
The half-day excursion, which will allow you to see the coast of the island with all its beauties, the beautiful cave, the poris de candelaria and a refreshing swim on La Veta beach... then We head north for a little while and then head out to the open sea to look for dolphins and whales and serve a delicious meal cooked on board in our kitchen and griddle.
The sunset excursion will allow you to discover the beauty of the coast at dusk. You will enjoy an idyllic landscape and a tapas-based dinner as well as all the drinks you want at your disposal. These outings are for a maximum of 12 people so that you can enjoy the experience to the fullest.

Summary Whale Watching
The best cetacean sightings in the Canary Islands are done with the Oceanexplorer boat Inia. A 2-hour route that covers the most common whale trails and that ensures 95% success of the sighting. This is very important since we work with animals that live in freedom and it is necessary to know their routes to be able to approach them.
We will travel in a boat specially designed for this type of activities. The INIA has soundproof and anti-vibration engines, an essential requirement to be able to enjoy the company of whales, dolphins and sperm whales,... It has a capacity for 10 people and departures are at 11:00 and 14:00.
During boarding we will give you a life jacket and you will receive a detailed explanation about the whale trails. We speak in 3 languages: Spanish, German and English.
