Company Overview
We are an ecotourism company that carries out expeditions to the Sierra Norte of the state of Oaxaca.
In Expediciones Sierra Norte you can do different activities, some of them are hiking, practicing horseback riding or exploring the cycling routes of mountain that will allow you to know the 5 types of vegetation environments that exist in the area, which are: mesophilic mountain forest, high evergreen forest, pine forest, pine-oak forest and oak forest.
We have routes that have a duration of 1 to 5 days. Depending on the expedition you choose, nights of lodging in cabins will be included where you can rest to continue other tours through the Sierra Norte.
On all our excursions you will have a specialist guide in the sport of your choice and material, if necessary. We also have special places where you can taste the typical food of the area.
We also have bakery workshops, gastronomy, tortiila workshop, crafts, Temzacal service, with massages and cleaning, and sitz bath service.
Our excursions have a double objective: To show you the amazing areas and wonderful landscapes that the region has at the same time that we share and teach you the importance of caring for the environment in Oaxaca and Mexico in general.

At Sierra Norte Expeditions in the Hiking activities we offer you excursions through the Sierra Norte, also called Sierra Juárez, located north of the City of Oaxaca, where you can explore the 5 types of vegetation that exist in the region, such as the mesophilic mountain forest, high evergreen forest, pine forest, among others.
At Sierra Norte Caminatas we have 8 walking routes that last 1 day or choose to stay for 5 days, so we offer you:
• Guide specialized in ecotourism and trekking
• Lodging in hostels or camps
• Food during your stay
Our routes are designed for light family walks or for signing up for a long-term expedition and tours for experts in the sport of hiking. br />
You will enjoy some amazing landscapes while you take the tours and you will get to know the towns where some indigenous populations of Oaxaca reside.
Also, if you get tired of walking, we have the option of renting our bicycles so you can make the trip and enjoy the flora and fauna of the region. You can't miss it!

At Sierra Norte Expeditions, the Mountain Biking activities offer you extraordinary routes for you to travel by mountain bike in the Sierra Norte, also known as like Sierra Juárez, located north of the City of Oaxaca.
Our routes can last from 1 to 5 days and are planned to fit your expedition, whether it is cycling with the family or going in and feeling adrenaline like sports experts.
We will offer you bike rental, a guide trained in tours through the Sierra, the option tostayin hostels or make a camp in the forest, breakfasts, lunches and dinners, where in turn the beauty of the landscapes will accompany you at all times.
In Sierra Norte Expeditions; Mountain Biking you will find the option of 3 routes of different levels of difficulty that will allow you to get to know the 5 different types of vegetation that exist in the Sierra , such as mountain cloud forest, high evergreen forest, pine forest, pine-oak forest and oak forest.

Summary Horseback Riding
At Sierra Norte Expeditions, theHorseback Rides are unforgettable. We offer you three possible routes for horseback riding in the Sierra de Norte, located north of the City of Oaxaca.
In the Horseback Riding activities you will have a guide specialized in horses who will teach you how to treat the horse and indicate its movements. Thus, the horses you will use are fully trained and accustomed to taking these walks, so you will not be in any danger with this docile animal.
Our horseback rides can last from 1 to 5 days, so you can mix horseback riding with mountain biking or hiking, to do various activities while enjoying the 5 types of vegetation that make up the region.
Among the vegetation that you can find on the route through the mountains you will have the mountain cloud forest, high evergreen forest, pine forest, pine-oak forest and oak forest.
On our routes you have the possibility of staying in hostels or requesting a campsite, where we will provide you with your tent to sleep under the stars while you breathe the aroma of nature.

Sierra Norte Expeditions has zip lines so you can have maximum fun and live the experience of feeling the adrenaline running through your skin.
On the magnificent 1,000 meter long zip line you will feel more than pure adrenaline, where you can enjoy the panoramic views of the community and its surroundings. Visit our 150-meter-long suspension bridge located in a nearby community surrounded by lush forest vegetation of conifers, oaks, fir arbutus, and 300-year-old pines with a height of 30 meters.
Jump onto the other zip lines that together measure 300 meters long, of which the highest is 80 meters. Also, visit the smallest one, 200 meters long, where you can also practice aerial skill games that will put your skills to the test.
Conquer fear and go through each of the zip line lines that we have available, for all those who want to feel the vertigo and make this activity the most exciting and daring of the moment until you reach the end of each one. Take the courage necessary to go through them.
