Kingswood Dearne Valley

At Kingswood Dearne Valley Outdoor Education Centre, several different kinds of climbing are available.

• Outdoor Climbing – A great activity to do for fun, it can also be combined with abseiling.
• Bouldering – Climbing only a couple of feet off the ground with mats underneath to catch fallers, this is a great activity for younger students, or those that are afraid of heights.
• Indoor Climbing – A great purpose built wall for climbing means that no matter what the weather, this activity can take place. You are also able to abseil down the wall, making this activity even better.

Laser tag is a great way to let off steam, and Kingswood Dearne Valley Outdoor Education Centre has a great place where the children can come and play laser tag against each other. The room is equipped with disco lights and smoke to make it very atmospheric. A great environment in which to bring forward leadership skills, the children must work together as a team in order to ‘get ‘ the other side.  

A great laser tag experience, it will be one of the highlights of the stay at Kingswood Dearne Valley Outdoor Education Centre. All equipment is available from the centre, so there is no need to bring anything except a sense of fun.

At Kingswood Dearne Valley Outdoor Education Centre, you are able to abseil in all weather conditions, all year round. Abseiling is a fun activity for people of all ages, and inspires bonding in the participants as they all support each other down the wall.

• Outdoor Abseiling – A great activity to do for people who want a bit of an adrenaline rush, this activity can be done on its own on the purpose built abseiling wall, or combined with the climbing activity.
• Indoor Abseiling –With a purpose built wall for climbing, you could also use it to abseil down when you get up to the top. This means that no matter what the weather, this activity can take place.

With over 50 acres of land to explore, Kingswood Dearne Valley Outdoor Education Centre has many great hikes that you can go on during your stay. If you would just like to do some aimless wandering, you can do this, but you can also do more focused activities that can be tailored to what you are learning at school at the moment.  Kingswood Dearne Valley Outdoor Education Centre’s qualified guides will be on hand to help you out.

You can also do some hiking with a twist, with the activity of nightline. This is where the students are blindfolded and have to navigate through some obstacles, following the person in front of them. A great way to build teamwork, as they need to rely on the good will of the person in front!

Kingswood Dearne Valley Outdoor Education Centre offers Archery as one of its many activities. This is a good activity to do for children of all ages, as no matter how old they are, or how skilled (or not) they are, they can easily pick it up and start getting some good results.

As the targets are movable, they can also be adjusted for the needs of the students doing the activities, and the qualified instructors will be on hand to help out anyone that needs a skilled person to assist them in getting better. Kingswood Dearne Valley Outdoor Education Centre is a great place for children to be introduced to this great sport.

High Ropes seem scary at first, especially when you are at the bottom looking up, but at Kingswood Dearne Valley Outdoor Education Centre, you won’t need to worry with all the support that you will receive from both your classmates and the excellent instructors. High Ropes activities that you can try are;

• Jacobs Ladder – A challenging climb!
• Leap of Faith – Can you jump far enough to reach the trapeze?
• High All Aboard – Work together as a team, in a great communication activity.
• Crate Stack – Keep adding crates for one of your team members to stand on – how high can you go?
