When it snows it seems that the world has changed. The entire landscape is white and almost unrecognizable, as if full of magic. The Mountain Club Al Filo Snowshoes offers you to use this type of footwear to be able to walk through the snow without getting tired, as if you were walking on firm ground. The company is located in Llánaves de la Reina, province of León, less than 1 hour and three quarters from the city of León by car.

The snowshoe routes pass through some of the most beautiful places in the region: Riaño, Puerto San Glorio, Puerto Pandetrave, Picos de Europa, the Palencia mountain... Routes can also be organized through other places in Spain.

At all times you will be accompanied by an Al Filo guide, who will give you brief theoretical instructions on handling the snowshoes, how to walk with them and what to do in case of an avalanche and other safety regulations. The snowshoes are worn over normal footwear, so participants will only have to wear the warm clothing they would normally wear for a day in the snow. The technical material will be provided by Al Filo.

Normally the routes do not last more than a day, but longer routes can be done. In these cases it is possible to stay in a hostel with half board or breakfast only.

Al Filo Ski Cross Country Mountain Club has its facilities in the Leonese town of Llánaves de la Reina, approximately one hour and 45 minutes by car from the city of León.

This company specialized in cross-country skiing or cross-country skiing offers its clients the possibility of doing both routes and courses.

Cross-country skiing courses are designed for people who have never practiced this sport before and want to try it. They last one weekend and are made for groups of at least 4 people. However, there is the possibility of taking a course that lasts only one day. All courses include all the necessary material, the accompaniment of a qualified guide/instructor, both theoretical and practical classes to learn how to do cross-country skiing, the necessary insurance to be able to carry out the activity and, for courses that last the entire weekend for the week, accommodation in a hostel with half board.

In addition to the courses, people who already know how to use cross-country skis can also book routes through the Leonese mountains, including Picos de Europa. The difference with the course is that the guide who accompanies the group only tells the participants where to go but does not teach classes. It is understood that skiers already have a sufficient level and the route is adapted to their needs.
