Ashdown Riding

Find a meaningful connection, learn a new skill and connect with natural surroundings all at once? At Ashdown Riding, everything is possible!

Based in the beautiful landscape of Ashdown Forest, we are a riding school and hacking centre with a lot going for us. The forest is a beautiful part of the High Weald, where wooded areas give way to heathland and expansive views wait around every corner.

We love our location, and so do our horses! The equine team members at Ashdown Riding are some of the best-looked-after horses in the area, and they return the favour by treating all of our visitors exceptionally well. Young or old, novice or expert, we have a pony or a horse for you.

As well as riding out, we run lessons at the stables. We have a floodlit, outdoor sand school which allows us to put on classes at all times of day throughout the year. Instruction is on one of our horses, we’ll pair you up with the most suitable steed for your size and level. Standard lessons are available, as are special skill workshops such as side saddle riding and lunging. On top of that, we also organise pony mornings and days in the school holidays for youngsters and can arrange pony parties for children’s birthdays.

What about the human element? Well, every team member is passionate about horses and horse riding. We have over 40 years of teaching experience, working with everyone from toddlers to adults, and absolute beginners to experienced riders,  and a wealth of local knowledge. If you have any special requirements, we’ll do all we can to meet them.
