One of the best ferratas to get started is the Montsant route! This Tarragona route, located above the town of Morera de Montsant located in the heart of Priorat and next to the Sierra de Montsant Natural Park, will be the best option if what you want is to start an extreme sport.
It has 2 Tibetan bridges, a 30-meter vertical needle, and a route full of impressive views. From the top, you can see the entire Priorat and its vineyards, the Sierra de Llaberia, the Ribera del Ebro, Siurana and the reservoir, and the Prades mountains.
It has a medium-low level of difficulty, suitable for initiation that will make you give your all both physically and mentally. The approach to the road will be a good warm-up, as we will ascend until we reach a section of large conglomerate blocks.
It will take about 2 hours to overcome the road, and when we reach the top of Montsant we will go along a section of the Serra Major until we go down the Grado de la Grallera, a path that goes up to the mountain that we will travel for 1 hour until we reach the car.
In total it will be between 3 or 4 hours, depending on how many of you there are, and with prior instructions on the techniques to be used, safety, orientation and characteristics of the environment. You will be accompanied by a professional guide who will help you with everything you need.
