The route takes you to the bottom of the crater, 200 meters from the surface. As you make the descent, each time you will feel as if you are entering a parallel world, a world in which life is unaware of what has happened above in the world you know.
Surrounded by volcanic slopes, you will know that you are in the deepest part of the crater. Furthermore, due to the micro ecosystem that has been created in these depths, you will be able to see unique plants in these areas, such as La Dama de Bandama, a flower that is in danger of extinction and is only found in that caldera. .
More than 2,000 years old, this volcano is characterized by its eruptions followed by long periods of calm. These eruptions are the mothers of Bandama peak, a mountain that has been formed by the accumulation of volcanic ash.
When you emerge from the depths, you will be able to skirt the volcano and, in addition, you will be able to find the vineyards of Gran Canarias. Due to the volcano, the soil and the climate of the area it has been discovered that it is perfect for raising the grapes that have become the base of the Canary Islands wine economy.
Therefore, the route ends with a tasting of the best wines in the area.
