The 8-hour tour includes a walk through the town to see the amber mines and workshops, as well as a museum dedicated to this valuable amber. fossil resin that is extracted and worked in this town. The little ones in the house will be able to witness and learn about the extraction of this resin in the mines and then observe how the artisans work it in their homes and workshops until they achieve beautiful pieces of art.
They will also enjoy the visit to the Amber Museum where they will complement what they experienced with the explanations that they will give us in this place. It is an ideal tour for children to appreciate and learn more about the customs and traditions of their country.
The tour begins very early, at 6:00 am in the morning to head to Simojovel. Arriving at our destination we will go to the Barrio de los Pocitos and the community of Pauchil where we will walk approximately a kilometer and a half towards the mines and then visit the workshops and the museum. On the way back to San Cristóbal de las Casas we will stop in the town of Oventic to observe some mural paintings and then in San Andrés to visit its church.
It is important that the little ones feel comfortable during the tour, that is why it is important to bring water bottles to hydrate them along the way, wear comfortable tennis shoes for long walks, sunscreen and a cap or hat to protect them from the sun.
