The experience begins very early by picking you up at your hotel at 6:00 am and thus taking advantage of the day, we depart from San Cristóbal de las Casas heading to Simojovel. Along the way you will be able to admire the beauty of the landscapes of the Sierra de Chiapas, we will also cross the Zapatista towns of San Andrés and Oventic. At 9:00 am we will arrive at Simojovel where you can have breakfast and then head to the Barrio de los Pocitos and the community of Pauchil.
At this point we will begin a walk of approximately a kilometer and a half towards the amber mines, here you will be able to observe and learn how this fossil resin is extracted and worked, which is also It will be known as tears of the jungle. We continue our visit to houses and workshops where you can admire the craftsmen cutting and polishing amber, a unique experience seeing them work and create beautiful pieces which you can purchase directly from them. at a very good price.
We will give you free time to eat and then we will visit the Amber Museum, here they will explain to us in more detail what you observed in the mines and with the artisans. We will head back to San Cristóbal, we will make a stop in Oventic to admire some mural paintings and then in San Andrés to visit its church.
We recommend that you bring a light backpack where you can carry water to hydrate yourself along the way, comfortable tennis shoes for long walks, sunscreen, and a cap or hat.
