Parascending in Pontevedra

One of the activities I've done a couple of times in Pontevedra, specifically in Sanxenxo, is parasailing. The reason is that it gives you an adrenaline rush, lets you enjoy incredible views, and you can share the experience with whoever you choose.

Flying parascending in the Rías Baixas

Parascending, parasailing or 'paravelismo' in Spanish, is a summer activity where you're harnessed to the rear of a speedboat while attached to a specially designed parachute for this sport. The boat accelerates and you begin ascending into the air, moving away from the vessel.

If the boat is powerful enough, it can carry two or three people simultaneously - in this case they'll take up to three people together if the third is a small child, so you can fly as a family.

 Parachute parascending

In this activity you have little to no control over the parachute, your only job is to enjoy the experience and the coastal views!

 Parascending among the clouds

I've tried this activity twice - first time solo to experience the sensation, and the second time with my partner.
While I went higher on my first flight (due to less weight), when flying with my partner there was strong wind which made it more exciting as we moved around more and got a massive adrenaline rush!

Both times I've gone parascending were with the company "Ocio Náutico Sanxenxo", located as the name suggests on Silgar beach in Sanxenxo, Pontevedra.

 Parascending in the Galician coasts

During summer it's a very popular activity, so it's best to get your ticket a few hours in advance. To purchase your flight or get information, visit their office at Juan Carlos I marina, right in the heart of the marina, decorated with photos of the activity.

This company operates flights annually from 1st July through late September, so if you're summering on the Pontevedra coast don't miss an unforgettable parascending flight - solo or with company!

Two or three people can go parasailing

This activity offers privileged views of Sanxenxo's coastline from above. You'll ascend over 100 metres high for an unforgettable experience during a gentle ride where you'll see the wonderful beaches of the Rias Baixas.

 Boat pulling the parascending

This Sanxenxo activity is unique in all Galicia, so you shouldn't miss it. The price is approximately €60 for a solo flight, or around €40 each for two people (though this depends on the operator).

The experience lasts about 30-40 minutes, plus you'll enjoy a high-speed boat ride from the port to the open sea preparation area - you'll literally fly over the waves of Galicia's coast!
