The human dream has always been, unquestionably, to fly. Numerous inventions throughout history with varying degrees of success have led to new challenges over the years, seeking to harness new energies to traverse the air. And as expected, water plays the leading role. Some time ago we discussed the flyboard here and how to get started with it , but today we're talking about the Jet Pack, created by Franky Zapata, the same inventor behind the Flyboard.

What is the Jet Pack?

The Jet Pack, or as it's commonly known, "propulsion backpack", is the evolution of the already familiar flyboard in its aquatic form. It's a rocket backpack powered by water, using the same system as the aforementioned flyboard, allowing you to experience an enhanced sensation of flight. You'll initially find balance somewhat easier due to a greater sense of control, though this ultimately depends on your skills. You'll operate it using a handlebar with your feet completely free.

Previously, other propulsion backpacks had been designed, such as gas-powered ones, but these are highly dangerous and only available to professionals and experts.

Perfect for summer and all ages

Unlike other water sports where extensive practice becomes mandatory over several sessions – like water skiing or surfing – you can enjoy the Jet Pack from your very first attempt after a short introductory lesson.

Being a water sport, its peak demand logically comes in summer, though it can be practised for much of the year across numerous locations in Spain including Madrid, Menorca, Valencia or the Canary Islands. Here we present a selection of all companies offering flyboard, hoverboard and jet pack experiences.
The only essential requirement is being able to swim, so you can imagine the potential participation is very broad – you're almost certainly eligible right now.

How much does it cost?

Depending on activity duration, location and season, but the average price is around €80 for half an hour, which isn't bad at all. These will be the best-invested €80 of your life!
