Before taking the plunge into skydiving, countless questions swirl through your mind. Will I be able to do it? Will I feel dizzy? What if the parachute doesn't open? In that case... welcome to the world of mortals! Skydiving is one of the most extreme sports out there, and consequently, it raises many uncertainties - especially if you're an enthusiast but not an expert in these types of experiences.
The first and most important thing to consider when booking a skydive is choosing a company that offers all the safety guarantees required for this type of flight. Don't be swayed by attractive prices or misleading offers. If your greatest dream is throwing yourself into the void with a parachute, check out all the options available in Spain to do it with the best professionals.
But let's not pretend to be brave - we all have doubts before skydiving. Here we present (and of course answer) some of the most common questions every brave skydiver asks themselves:
- What is the minimum height for a skydive?
- Can I skydive solo?
- How long does freefall last during a skydive?
- At what altitude does the parachute open?
- How long does a skydive last?
- Do I receive any training before the skydive?
- Is skydiving safe?

1. Skydives typically occur between 2,700 and 5,000 metres altitude above ground level. At higher altitudes oxygen would be required, while at lower altitudes there wouldn't be sufficient distance for the parachute to open completely safely.
2. Unless you've completed a course certifying you've passed the technical and practical training, you cannot skydive solo.
3. From the moment you jump from the plane in freefall until the parachute opens takes between 30 and 60 seconds. From that point until landing takes about 5-10 minutes.
4. The parachute opens at about 1,500 metres above the ground.
5. The total duration of a skydive is typically 15-20 minutes in total, including the plane flight to altitude, the approximately one-minute freefall, and the 5-10 minute glide with the open parachute.
6. Before your tandem skydive, the instructor handling your jump will explain everything you need to know to fully enjoy your experience - from how to position yourself before jumping to the entire process until landing.
7. Contrary to what some might think... skydiving is extremely safe! Tandem jumps are always performed by top experts with hundreds of flight hours and countless jumps - both solo and accompanied - under their belts. These are professionals specifically trained for this, who know their equipment perfectly and all possible scenarios during the jump. Your only job is to enjoy!
Can we offer some advice? Don't wait any longer to try skydiving. The more you think about it, the more doubts will plague you - and now that you've read the most important things to know about skydiving... what's stopping you? Time to fly!!
