Around the world, there are locations that - due to the river's own characteristics or the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings - are considered by many to be the best places for white water rafting.

In Spain there are numerous places to practice it (here are the 7 best places), and it's considered one of the most extreme sports out there, both for the adrenaline rush and the "risks" taken when descending rivers. Today we'll list the best spots on the planet. Pay attention!

Our first stop takes us to the "Yanks", specifically to the state of Idaho. This is one of the most popular rivers for this sport, not just for its impressive flow rate but also for its stunning views during the journey - with some luck you might even spot bears.
2. Upano River (Ecuador)

We move to South America to enjoy one of the wildest rivers in existence. The Upano River offers a spectacular route right in the heart of the
Amazon Basin. Class IV rapids, breathtaking landscapes and abundant waterfalls. The most famous section is the Namangosa Gorge. A true visual spectacle and considered the fourth best in the world.
3. North Johnstone River (Australia)

Advanced-level rafting in Queensland. The highlight, besides its impressive volcanic gorges, is that access to the starting point is only possible by air - meaning helicopter. This makes it one of the most difficult locations to reach.
4. Sun Kosi River (Nepal)

Very close to Tibet, you'll descend among the world's highest peaks in the Himalayas. A spectacular setting for a river with Class V sections, with the surrounding environment being one of its most appealing features. An excellent choice for the most adventurous.
5. Futaleufú River (Chile)

A river suitable for all skill levels with unique blue waters originating from the Andes glaciers. Considered one of the most popular rafting locations in the world. A wide river that's navigable through most sections, though it narrows into canyons where the water explodes with force. Highly recommended!
6. Zambezi River (Zambia)

Another of the world's most popular rivers for rafting and also considered the most dangerous on the planet. It flows below Victoria Falls along a stretch approximately 20km long. SPECTACULAR! Violent rapids and dramatic drops. Oh! And there are crocodiles on the banks too, though your real focus will be staying in the boat.
7. Gállego, Ara and Ésera Rivers (Spain)

For our final option we give a nod to our home country. We mention what many consider to be Spain's best rafting area. In the Pyrenees of Huesca, the Gállego, Ara and Ésera rivers offer enviable landscapes with sections up to Class IV, set between the Benasque Valley and Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park.
These are just some of the world's best white water rafting locations. If reading this has given you the itch for snowmelt season, we leave you with all our offers where you can select locations, compare by price, reviews, distances etc.
See you in the rapids!
