Adventure sports are a great opportunity to say goodbye to stress and experience life differently. Actor Fernando Cayo knows this well - you can currently see him on the small screen playing Count of Miranda in the series Toledo, Crossroads of Destinies. We also interviewed his co-star Paula Cancio (you can see the interview here).

The Valladolid-born actor has had a long career since beginning his acting journey back in 1998 with a role in Antena 3's series Manos a la obra (Hands to Work). Since then he hasn't stopped working in film, television and theatre, earning awards like Best Actor at the Toulouse Film Festival and acting awards at various festivals including Zaragoza and Pilas, among others.
But that's not all - between roles he also finds time for adventure sports like scuba diving, climbing and mountain biking.

Yumping.- Have you done any extreme sports?
Fernando Cayo.- Yes, several: paragliding, climbing, scuba diving, canyoning and mountain biking.
Y.- What adventure sport would you like to try?
F.C.- Of all of them, skydiving is my unfinished business.
Y.- Which one would you never dare to try?
F.C.- Underwater caving - the idea of being in a cave underwater scares me too much...

Y.- Do you dedicate your free time to any hobbies?
F.C.- I enjoy walking in the countryside and whenever I have a moment I go hiking with my wife, my daughter and my dog. Cycling also really refreshes me - I live in the countryside and take any opportunity to get outdoors; it's essential in my life, something I learned to enjoy from my parents with whom I used to take many countryside trips and I'd like to pass that on to my daughter. Contact with nature is one of life's brightest things.
Y.- What are your usual ways to release adrenaline?
F.C.- In the rehearsal room I have at home I put on music and dance, I release adrenaline and connect with my body through meditation and yoga - anything that connects me with my breathing and my body. Sweating on the bike also really liberates me.
Y.- Do you think people should do more adventure sports?
F.C.- Absolutely, it's a way to connect with a group of people, unite with nature and "dezombify" ourselves from all the bad news, manipulation, routine and pessimism.

Y.- What's the most exciting thing you've done in your life?
F.C.- Having a daughter (laughs). And regarding extreme sports, my first paragliding experience from the cliffs in Lima-Peru: I found myself hanging there, gliding quite high above the sea... What a rush! I loved it!
Y.- Land, sea or air sports?
F.C.- For the thrill you get, I prefer air; for ease of practice, land; and for charm, the sea.
Y.- Would you do extreme sports with friends or your partner?
F.C.- I prefer doing them with people, because that's how you enjoy them most - for me it's a social experience. But if I'm travelling or there's no opportunity, I don't mind doing them alone.
Y.- With which extreme sport could you surprise someone?
F.C.- A nice paragliding ride in a beautiful setting.

A big hug full of affection and energy to all Yumping friends!
