1. Surfing

As it couldn't be otherwise, first on our list because it's the king of water sports and the king of summer. Its popularity is such that thousands upon thousands of surfers and enthusiasts travel worldwide searching for the best beaches to ride waves. Here in Spain, we're not short of options, as we have many of the best beaches in the world, hosting international competitions every year. These are some of the best surfing beaches in Spain.

Surf practice this summer

If you're a beginner, you'll need to contact one of the many companies offering beginner's courses with boards. The best waves are usually in the north, but you can surf all around the country, including the islands.
If you've never tried it, we highly recommend giving it a go.

2. Kayaking

This activity might not seem as exciting as surfing but it's highly recommended nonetheless. These canoes, which can be for 1 or 2 people, have multiple uses. You can either enjoy a peaceful paddle along the coast or try whitewater kayaking (on rivers). But have you ever tried catching a wave in a kayak?

3. Flyboarding

Since this water sport emerged in 2012, it hasn't stopped gaining followers wherever it goes, and many companies now offer this activity in our country. It's become particularly popular for stag parties – a perfect plan to enjoy with friends.

 Flyboard

Flyboarding involves wearing propulsion jets on your feet that create pressurised streams keeping you airborne. It's tricky at first but you'll soon get the hang of it. A fantastic sport for those wanting to try something new, and not too expensive either. Plus, you won't need to go to the coast as you can do it on many lakes and reservoirs too.

4. Paddle Surfing

Some say it's a "lighter" version of surfing, but not at all. While you can enjoy a relaxing stand-up paddle along the coast using an oar for propulsion, have you tried its more extreme version? River SUP is essentially paddle surfing's answer to whitewater rafting.
Imagine navigating rapids while standing, maintaining your balance... Spectacular with an incredible adrenaline rush!
