5 HIKING ROUTES TO ENJOY WITH KIDS IN THE PROVINCE OF BARCELONA
 
1. The Montserrat Massif 

One of the most iconic peaks in the Barcelona area, home to a monastery visited annually by thousands of tourists. Surrounding it, you’ll find numerous well-marked hiking trails where you can enjoy the region’s natural beauty.

Once you step off the funicular (which you’ll need to take beforehand), you’ll discover multiple routes. You can descend back to the monastery, circle the mountain, and explore the western side of the range. For the more adventurous, there’s also a trail leading to the highest peak—go for it, as it’s absolutely worth it! 

2. Montseny Natural Park

Located roughly an hour and a half’s drive from Barcelona, we assure you it’s worth the trip. There are nearly 30 well-marked trails to explore the oldest park in Catalonia. Highlights include the Santa Fe Reservoir, the abandoned plane (though it’s no longer in its original location), the Sant Martí Hermitage, and the pools along the Riera de Gualba

3. Collserola

Just 10 km from the heart of the city, this is one of the most stunning natural areas in the region and is considered Barcelona’s green lung. There are numerous walks you can take within the Park

One of the most famous is the Fonts de Collserola route, a must-do and ideal for summer. Overall, it’s a perfect alternative where you can enjoy unparalleled views of the city from spots like Tibidabo (the highest point), home to one of the many viewpoints. Areas such as Pedrera dels Ocells or Vallvidrera Reservoir will make for a pleasant stroll with the kids. 

4. Garraf

In Baix Llobregat and Alt Penedès, you’ll find Garraf Park, one of the most recommended landscapes in the area. Like the others, it features numerous well-marked paths that are easily navigable with the whole family. A great option is the Pleta Botanical Itinerary

5. Cadí-Moixeró

Straddling the provinces of Barcelona, Girona, and Lleida lies one of the most spectacular natural parks in Spain (the second largest in Catalonia) , offering countless routes for all tastes, from the ascent to Cadí’s Torreta to the Bullidor de la Llet.
