Tips if you are going to do Winter Sports in Italy

An adventurer that prides him or herself in their spirit of adventure cannot be stopped by anything, not even the snow, in fact, when we see snow for the first time, we jump out of excitement and our endorphin level skyrockets. When we see that little by little the highest peaks are covered with this singular white cloak of snow, it means only one thing... The time for winter adventure has arrived! The cold weather isn’t a reason to stop having fun, so wrap yourself up and enjoy the best snow sports you've been waiting for a whole year.

1. The perfect remedy against catching a cold!



That's right, believe it or not, science is on our side on this. Practicing snow sports continuously during the winter season decreases our chances of catching a cold as it helps to strengthen the cardiovascular muscles while burning more calories (between 400 and 1000 kcal/h). What else can you ask for in wintertime? Fewer colds and getting fit. But don't think you'll get a super immune system of this, because this doesn’t mean you'll never catch a cold from now on. You must always take care of yourself and your health by taking vitamins and using the best articles and brands that keep your body isolated from the damp and cold snow.

2. You'll be overflown with vitamin D



You heard well. Vitamin D, also known as the sun vitamin. Even if it's cold, you can be sure that your body will be exposed to high doses of vitamin D by playing snow sports and you can even get a perfect mid-winter tan. Being in the mountains is not a synonym of grey days, in fact, the higher the altitude the more sun you get, especially if you consider that the snow is white, which means that it will reflect the sun strongly so, in one way or another, you won't leave the mountains without having received a nice shot of this very essential vitamin.

3. Skiing and beyond



In the middle of the mountains we can do anything we want, it's not just all about skiing or snowboarding. There are snow adventures for all kinds of people and all ages. Of course, skiing and snowboarding are two challenging and exciting activities that combine fun with adrenaline in a perfect cocktail. But we can also visit remote places on a dog-pushed sled, doing mushing, or testing your dexterity driving a snowmobile. Snow is much more fun than you might think. Plan a route with snowshoes, build an igloo, fly on a helicopter over the most beautiful white mountains... Start planning your adventure with the first snowfalls.

4. You will tone up and improve your body



Being exposed to lower temperatures, our organism makes an over-exertion that rewards us with an improvement in performance and our physical qualities. You will see an improvement in cardiovascular and cardiopulmonary capacity and develop your muscles, especially those of your torso and legs. All this while, obviously, we also train our balance. Because getting in shape with any snow sport is always a good alternative to staying at home when the temperatures start to drop.

5. Unimaginable doses of fun



Just picture it: in the immensity of the mountains, melted in their landscapes covered with a perfect cloak of snow and, all this, surrounded by an overwhelming silence as the snow captures the air particles that facilitate the propagation of sound. In this peaceful environment, we'll have the most exciting days of winter fun, perfectly combining entertainment and adrenaline no matter what you're doing, whether it's a snowshoeing tour or a day of snowboarding, the excitement you'll receive will be of the same proportions, because being thousands of metres above sea level will always turn out to be an intoxicating experience.

When to practice snow sports?



As you might be thinking, snow sports depend almost entirely on the weather. Although some years the winter season begins at the end of November or the beginning of December, there are others that practically overlap with Christmas. And the same happens when it comes to the end of the snow season, since there are times when it still snows in spring and others when the snow starts to melt in March. This is only possible if you go to any of Italy’s ski resorts to practise your chosen sport, as there are artificial slopes even where you can train and practice your favourite snow sport even at 35º C!
