10 things to do in Vizcaya

To visit Vizcaya is to submerge in a place that combines the most advanced industrialization, avant-garde architecture and the wildest natural landscapes on the Iberian peninsula. This is a unique opportunity to reconcile cultural tourism with adventurous experiences. We propose you ten things to do in Vizcaya:

1. Bungee Jumping in Ondarroa:



If you are a fan of the risk and strong sensations, don’t hesitate on going bungee jumping in the Ondarroa bridge. Its 40 meters in height of jump will make your hairs stand. Located in Lea Artibai, and who those who want to carry out the jump, halfway, or to expand the trip, you can enter the fishing village, where you can enjoy beautiful architectural buildings in its old quarter.

2. Balloon Ride From Orduña:



Surely, you have seen, through series or movies, dream balloon rides and you would like to experience this sensation but you do not know where. In the province of Vizcaya, you can make your wishes come true by flying, for example, the Valderejo Natural Park. From the heights, you will see one of the most beautiful pictures, the Purón river gorge or, if you are equipped with binoculars, the great colony of griffon vultures that hides among its mountains.

3. Paragliding in Sopelana:



Overfly the Barinatxe beach, in the municipality of Sopelana, and discover from the skies the braveness of its waters. And if you are one of those who prefer more the mountains than the coast, in this region, you will have the opportunity of paragliding over from the Jata woodlands, at 800 meters in height, up to Bakio or Maruri.

4. Horseback Ride in Trabagarán:



If you want to connect with nature, nothing better to do it on the horseback throughout the Trápaga valley. Located a few kilometers from Bilbao, you will stay amazed with its green areas, where you will find natural ponds and Peñas Negras paradisiac views.

5. Quad Route in Bakio:



Located between the cities of Mungia and Bermeo, at just half an hours from Bilbao, you will be able to put behind the wheel of a quad and drive through Bakio paths, whilst crossing mountains and coast. To seize your stay on a location full of old buildings, it is not a bad thing to extend the tour to know historical heritages, such as the palace of Ormatza.

6. Surfing in the Arrietara Beach:



Do you love the sea and see the waves as a mode of entertainment? Well, your sport is surfing and your beach, Arrietara. Come to have fun on the coast of this Basque location, whilst practicing a sport that will not only get into shape but also send you good vibes. As the neighbor of the Cantabrian Sea, this location, situated in the municipality of Sopelana, offers some spectacular views since it’s surrounded by big cliffs.

7. Boat Trip Through Matxitxako:



Nothing like taking a boat and let yourself go by sea. Located in the exceptional area (around 14km from Bermeo), the Matxitxako headland is the ideal destination if you are looking to contemplate the horizon and have in front you the known islet, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe or the Ogoño foreland. A route that is worth it to enjoy until the afternoon. The sunset in this Cantabrian area is just spectacular.

8. Segway Ride Through Bilbao:



Cover the historic streets of the capital of Vizcaya without getting tired. Drivin a Segway, you will be able to move between Bilbao’s narrow streets whilst visiting monuments like the Chávarri palace, the hanging bridge or the famous Guggenheim museum. Because is a vehicle easy to drive, if you get hungry, we can make a stop to try the delicious gastronomy with the pintxo route, found in the middle of the historical center.

9. Speleology in the Baltzola Caves:



If you considerate a person who loves to live extreme experiences and you are staying in Bilbao, you can’t go without doing speleology in the labyrinthine caves of Baltzola. Without getting far, this is about the most known caves at the National Urkiola Park, after the La Dama de Anboto, in the location of Dima. Don’t hesitate anymore and explore the inner area of the Basque mountains.

10. Paintball Game in Amorebieta:



Would you like to disconnect from the routine? Participate in one intense paintball battle with your friends in the Basque municipality of Amorebieta and release tensions. Being in the Duranguesado region, we will not only enjoy this exchange of colored balls, but also the natural and green landscape that dresses the mountains of Udalaitz, Anboto, Mugarra, and Oiz.
