10 things to do in Palencia

Are you going to do an escapade to the region of Palencia? A destination awaits you that adapts to you as you need, and is that you can opt for very relaxing activities in a beautiful natural setting, but you can also choose to make much more adventurous adventure sports. It depends on you!

1. Paramotoring over Villarramiel.



Starting from this town, you will climb up to about 300 meters to be able to see the landscapes of the Tierra de Campos region. You will make a flight of about 20 minutes, in the company of a pilot expert.

2. Go canoeing in Velilla of Carrión River.



In this area, you can make a canoe and choose between a walk through a reservoir, such as Camporredondo or Compuerto, or if you prefer, descend the Carrión River. Any choice is fantastic, and you will always have a guide by the side to advise you.

3. Hiking to the Mazobre waterfall.



If you are a hiker, you can not miss this tour. The difficulty is very low because we will only overcome a drop of about 250 meters. The prize is to reach the drop of water, which reaches 10 meters in height. If it is the hot season you can even take advantage of it and take a dip underneath.

4. Discover what is speleology in the Fonseca cave.



You can start exploring the caves by choosing this cave, located in the Fuentes de Carriona Natural Park. Throughout 3 hours of travel, the professional caver who accompanies you will show you the most interesting points of this chasm.

5. Fly over the city of Palencia with a balloon.



Take off over the capital of Palencia and take a dream trip while you see the Cathedral of San Antolín, the famous Cristo del Otero or the Church of San Miguel, among other monuments. When you land, you will be waiting for a delicious lunch in the style of Castilla y León. Take sausages, cheese, torreznos, and even some pasta to finish.

6. Overfly Herrera de Pisuerga with a light aircraft.



Come to the airfield located in this part of the Boedo-Ojeda region and embark on a spectacular plane ride for a quarter of an hour. We can reach Palencia city! On the flight we must add a briefing that the pilot will do before takeoff, to explain each part of this adventure.

7. Learn to ride a horse next to the Carrión River.



In the shore of this river, and just at the outskirts of the city of Palencia, you will find a horse riding center where you can discover and get introduced to the horseback riding discipline. You will be able to receive the classes in a covered riding school or on the outdoor track, according to preferences and weather.

8. Horse-drawn car through the streets of Palencia:



Instead of riding a horse, you prefer that the animal tow a beautiful carriage while you and your partner are sitting comfortably in it, you can do it while you visit the most famous streets of the capital and see the monuments up close. It is a very different and nice way to take a guided tour of the city.

9. Travel through Saldaña by a quad.



If you have a driving license you can opt for a motorized adventure and tour the region of Vega - Valdavia aboard a 4x4 quad. The routes are made along the Carrión River, circulating along forest roads that take advantage of the qualities of these off-roaders.

10. Go zip-lining in Barruelo de Santullán:



Within the schedule of the Camino de Santiago del Norte, what is known like the Besaya Route, you will find location, that has a whole adventure park in the trees for you. There are several circuits, depending on the level of difficulty you are looking for.
