Welcome to the British Mountaineering Council (BMC)
Founded in 1944, we aim to provide advice on facilities, training, good practice, and equipment to climbers, hill walkers and mountaineers in England and Wales. We also aim to promote cliff and mountain conservation and improvements in the sport.
We can provide you with advice on all matters relating to mountaineering, rock climbing, indoor climbing and walking, including:
- Health and medical advice
- Skills
- Gear and equipment
- Finding a club
- Finding a climbing wall
- Conservation
- Travel insurance
We have BMC affiliated clubs all over the UK. One of the benefits of being a BMC Club Member is you can join us on training weekends, to improve your skills, and of course it will give you the chance to meet other like-minded people.
